I have a group of golfers who are used to playing nice courses like Saddlebrook, Turnberry Isle, and Doral. They'll be here in
September, staying around Dulles. Any recommendations on a nice course nearby where you don't need to be a member to play?

Don't think you need to be a member to play Raspberry Falls, but I think I've only played off-season. I think it's very nice!

I would recommend Raspberry Falls (Leesburg), Old Hickory (East of Manassas), Westfields (Chantilly), and Stonewall (Manassas). All are better than average, and are open to the public. Have a great time!

I have lived an played golf in the NoVa area since I was 6 years old. Here are my recommendations:
As others have said, Raspberry Falls is an excellent choice and one of my favorites. You could try to get on Beacon Hill (great course and in great shape) even though it is a membership club. They will accept 3 "try-out" rounds for non-members, but I am not sure if there are any stipulations (such as providing personal info). Lansdowne is another great course in my opinion and is fairly easy to get on especially during the week. South Riding is another course typically in great shape but I have not played there in a couple of years so I am not sure if they are a member club.
Stonewall, Westfields (Fred Couples design), Bull Run (Rt 15), Reston (yes, Reston!), Virginia National (way out yonder off Rt 7) are all good courses and offer various challenges if played from the appropriate tees.

A question for you - are any of the players members at clubs where they live? If so, there is a possibility they may be able to play some of the CC courses in the area (Belmont, Lowes Island, International) as many CC's have a reciprocating policy with other CC's. May be worth checking... good luck!
