:bow:OMG, Have you seen the new ship Oasis of the Seas? If not you have to go online www.oasisoftheseas.com it may take a bit to load - especially the gallery as many fans of RCCL are most likely viewing it now, too.

It is like nothing you have ever seen before. You can sure betcha that the Koas family will be on this one! Anybody want to come along and make a big group? AS of tomorrow sales begin. Ship sales beginning in December.

We have been on small, medium, and large ships and what is amazing is even on the large ones, you begin to recognize people you pass...and the staff alone on a ship the size of the Oasis will be most likely 2500 - most of whom you never even see. On large ships we've never felt crowded. Even getting off port not everybody does the same thing or gets off ship at the same time, and if it's a port we've seen before, we stay on ship, with others of the same mind, stay at the pool while workers shine the rails, etc. and you can still get food at Windjammer Cafe.

Yes, sometimes you may find the elevators busy, but they have nice stairs. we usually try to be around deck 8, so that we are only 3 decks above the main dining hall and at least a few decks under the pool level, as you can hear them scraping chairs back into place usually around midnight.

There are so many places to get away from crowds - they even have a library where you can read or play chess, etc.

Yes, it is a huge ship. In fact RCCL is calling the ship the destination, not the islands it visits.

If anyone is interested in getting together a group to sail on this ship (or any ship for that matter) pm me. As a cruise specialist I can hook you up with some good rates and freebies for a cruise. Just beware, RCCL's rates have gone through the roof in the past year. In fact they rival Disney's rates. But there are deals to be found!!!

    Let's get a group going!!!

So would the Pats_Fan's family, without a doubt (assuming interested Broadlanderites would accept us Southern yokels).

This website has actually been active for months, and we've already received snail-mail mailings about the Oasis.

Then my hubby could run it and maybe get us a free ride! Running that beast shouldn't be any differen than the subs he's used to, eh?

So I checked out the website Brassy listed but didn't see the itineraries... where do I find that?

The Caribbean is divided into three sections (as far as cruising goes).

The Western Caribbean--Caymans, Jamaica, Cozumel and Mexican ports-of-call like Belize and Costa Maya.

The Eastern Caribbean includes, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, most of the cruise line's private islands as well as St. Maartin and sometimes Key West.

The least traveled of all the Caribbean routes and the most spectacular is the Southern Caribbean. This can include, Aruba, Curacao, Grenada, Martinique, St. Kitts and Bonaire just to name a few. Usually cruises to the Southern Caribbean begin and end in San Juan.

You'll find that Royal Caribbean's new ships are so large that they can't fit into some of their usual ports. That's why RCCL is calling these ships the destination. I did a quick survey of my hard-core Royal Caribbean cruisers and a good 40% of them never even got off the ship to visit the ports. They stayed on board and enjoyed the amenities of the ship.

And don't forget, Disney will have two new ships come online in either 2010 or 2011. They won't be the beasts that RCCL is building but they will be larger then the two ships they currently have in operation. We are sitting on pins and needles to find out where these two new ships will call home. I believe one will be on the West Coast so that Disney can sail to their new resort on Hawaii in the Winter and Alaska in the Summer. The other should probably do two itineraries one European and one Caribbean. But those are just guesses.

Sorry if this was TMI but thought you would like to know.

Our favorite RCCL ship was the Navigator, but alas it sails in Europe during the summer. We do like sea day sailing so going to Europe where you get off ship every day is a no go for us.

Haven't been to Alaska - airfare cost to BC and then back from Fairbanks (at 2am) UGH. But doing land and sea (Inside passage), would be nice. For sure changes are happening fast up nor th so things will not be the same.Item 1- A chunk of ice shelf nearly the size of Manhattan broke away from Ellesmere Island in Canada's northern Arctic on Wednesday!

Back in the day RCCL did coast to coast 14 day Panama Canal - we'd have taken our kids out of school for that or abridged it to Spring break, but now they don't do that and Panama canal cruising is in the early year, rather than summer.

You could say cruising in late June or July in the Caribbean is hot, but basically the temps are the same year round down there. We would not go into August due to Hurricanes. We've been on a Southern Route, that took us as far down as Antgua...but after doing the Caribbean so much, things do begin to look the same! But since that is the only place the huge ships go due to draft size - well, Kaos and I just our bursting to get on such an innovative ship!

Actually - if it's powered like the other RCCL ships - it runs mostly on Bio Diesel!
