Heck - if all they wanted was lip-synching - they could have had Brittney do it!

I also heard that some of the fireworks were also graphically enhanced by pre-recorded footage sent to the various networks covering the ceremonies.

Makes me feel worse when I don't tidy up before guests come over. I never thought about inviting guests over to an imaginary home that doesn't exist. Maybe I can replace my unruly dog with a holographic image of an obedient one who listens to me and graphically enhance their visits by projecting stain-free carpet and walls to hide my home's imperfections.

I'm definitely going to hire an actor to play my teenage son who excels at sports and has perfect teeth.

    First impressions, right?

Did everyone enjoy the show? I think that is what matters. WHO CARES if stuff was digitally or graphically enhanced, if there was lip-syncing or if professionals were used instead of amateurs.

It was an awesome show, especailly in HD!

I heard this report, and I think it's much ado about nothing. There was one scene -- showing footprint-shaped fireworks 'walking' toward to the stadium, which was CGI and not real. The announcers made it abundantly clear during the broadcast that it was not real, so I'm not sure what the controversy is. I heard they did have pre-recorded footage available to replace other parts of the fireworks in case the weather did not cooperate, but they did not use that footage.

I won't defend them on the lip-syncing girl, though...

    I did enjoy the show.

I just feel for the little girl who was told she was not pretty enough to represent the good side of her country. Oddly enough, I though she WAS cute. How many kids that age are not?

The HUGE LCD screen was incredible and how they coordinated the undulating boxes with actual human beings was phenomenal. For me, the best opening ceremony I remember seeing...

China really raised the bar for future opening ceremonies

Trivia question: anyone know who the Chinese called upon to design the master plan for the Olympics this year?

Albert Speer Jr., the son of Hitler’s favorite architect and the designer of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Interesting, eh?

as long as no one tells the little girl with the angelic voice that the judges decided she wasn't cute and perfect enough to represent China- i don't give a whit about the rest... :)
