If you drive past their location, you'll see that they are currently clearing the land. They had one or two more items to get thru the planning commission, but they are mainly changes in the exterior finishes and walls.

Don't expect Clydes to open much before 2006, according to the updates given last week during the developer's update.

FWIW .. the HOA will be sponsoring another update session sometime after New Year's.

Chicken Out is good, but a complete and utter ripoff. Everytime I've been in there it has been comparable to going to a sit-down restaurant -- that's too much!

Can't wait for Clydes though.... I love their cincinatti style chili... mmm

Clyde's was befor the Board of Supervisors Tuesday. It did not receive final approval. There were some issues regarding noise abatement for their outdoor activities that needed further work.

Good! Noise is a problem in Broadlands. Now the 64,000 dollar question is how do we get sound walls put up on the greenway?

My TH backs to the greenway and I would rather have no wall.... noise was an issue for about the first 2 weeks, then we got used to it. It's only white noise. And I sure as hell hope that the Greenway folks would pay for these walls if they do go in. $2.75 is highway robbery, pardon the pun.

Why wouldn't you want a wall there? Is the view of the road that good? At least if there was a wall there Ivy would grow on it.

I was used to the noise too. But it is getting worse as volume increases AND speed increase. And it's also getting worse late at night. I hear someone hitting the lane markers almost every night and morning around 4AM. I'd like to do an EPA test on the noise. I think it may be hitting noise pollution levels.

The joys of living in a capitalistic society where supply and demand help feed local econonmies like ours.

As you head south down Demott from Waxpool, you'll have apartments and houses on the right, and the commerical area will be on the left alongside the Greenway to the Ryan Rd exit.

    Thanks Neil
I now know where you're talking about. Are they really talking about putting a grocery store there? Do you know of anything else slated to go there? Are they going to start this soon? Or is a few years off? Thanks for any info.

They are currently in talks with a grocery store chain (not Giant or Food Lion). Not sure of the exact time frame for construction.

That new development sounds like it is going to very close to the Giant shopping center going in next to Home Depot in a couple of years. Can this area support a Wegman's, Harris Teeter, SFW, Food Lion, Safeway, 3 Giants and whichever chain will go in there? I am all for more choices, but don't want to see stores like Shoppers close due to lack of customers.

    tvh-
Phase III will be built to the east of the current shopping center. Essentially, on the other side of the bank.

    From today's Washington Post:

    Educational Toy Store

Curiosity Zone plans to open its first store in Loudoun County in January in the Broadlands Village Shopping Center in Ashburn. The 2,800-square-foot store will sell educational toys and offer classes, birthday parties, workshops and summer camps for children ages 1 to 12.
