Anyone else see Ashburn, VA represented on the show last night? The weekly trivia winner was a couple from Ashburn.

Prediction: Blake v. Jordan in the finals. Blake winning.

Yup, how about that, Ashburn :)

and yup, they will be the 2 but I think Jordan might win but Blake will probably do better after AI, you know sell more records.

We went to visit family in Glendale AZ during spring break, the home of Jordin Sparks. They were wild for her there! My sister in law is friends with her aunt and it is said she has been singing so well since she was little. Everyone seems mesmerized with her.

We have date night with American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and Survivor. Oh and The Apprentice too. When we can stay up!

We love Blake. It seems the girls are being voted off sooner than the guys, a change from the beginning when the girls were blowing away the guys with their big performances.

Why is everyone so upset about the Sanjaya guy? I'm not all that familiar with the show this year, just wondering what all the hoopla is about.

Because he's terrible and due to the goof-factor, more talented singers are being voted off before him.

Anyone else notice the disclaimer at the end of show? It looks its been updated and AI is now using "technology" to rule out abusive dialers. I guess they want to shut down folks who use a computer modem to continuously dial a number, "fluffing" the votes.

The only problem is, this is exactly what people like Stern and Vote for the Worst want, since it is a self fulfilling prophecy for them. The artificially inflate a horrendous contestant, and then when he gets kicked off, they claim the producers a subverting the vote.

I personally think AI jumped the shark by continuing to put weak candidates into the top 12, while ignoring the moderates. It seems the only way to get noticed is to be extreme in some fashion. I'd rather watch them talk about how they grow the contestants, instead of watching the horrible fluff they put in as filler.

The judges only decide on the top 24. The votes decide who gets eliminated from there. I think they should change up the voting a bit. Have America decide the bottom three, then the judges pick who should be eliminated. That may eliminate some of these jokes that are left in too long.

But the jokes are exactly what is getting people to talk and likely increases ratings.

The producers keep him around long enough to serve their purposes. They won't let him beat out any of the legitimate contestants. I'd guess that Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson will be gone before the producers may 'step in' and give him the boot. It'd be a shame if any of the remaining girls get the boot before him...they're clearly superior singers.

Personally, I wish Blake would hit the bricks. I'm tired of his plaid pants and sidestep shuffle dancing...

Are you implying the producers control the vote?

I totally think the producers have the final say in who stays and goes, you think it's all honest and valid? I guess the only way to be sure is if a jilted, booted contestant filed a lawsuit and Fox was subpoenaed to give up the raw vote numbers. I'm sure nobody would do that tho, and there's probably something in the contract/release they have to sign about challenging the vote total/results should they be eliminated.

Bottom line is, the producers know that with Sanjaya on the program, it means big ratings for them, just for the ridiculousness of it and the press he's getting...but those ratings won't translate into big album sales after the show is over should he win. Most of the people tuning in to see the circus and have a laugh certainly wouldn't shell out $13 for a CD full of his music, so there's no way they'd let him win over a Melinda or Lakisha who would certainly translate into big CD sales.

Of course, this theory doesn't explain Taylor Hicks (although I like the guy).

Actually the way the disclaimer reads, and this is what the "Stern" camp alludes to, is that the producers muck around with the vote count in the name of "balancing" the obvious abuse votes. Personally I would prefer that the judges be given more power, ie - pick from the bottom three the person to go home. Especially since they are more involved in the day to day handling of the contestants.

I don't think that's new that they try to get rid of the auto-dialer voting. Been that way since the start.

As for Sanjaya, my 7-year-old daughter thinks he's the bomb. I think he's adorable and was definitely better than Haley this week. Personally, it drives me nuts how mean they are to him every week. He is just a kid. But he seems to be handling the situation terrifically. Too bad Chris Sligh couldn't roll with the criticism the way Sanjaya does.

Apparently these people don't share your view of the adorable Sanjaya. Check out the Elvis outfit. Ewwwwwwwwww. That's not adorable, that's just creepy! But I'm not a 7 year old girl.

We all know that seven year old girls have the best ear for talent and hold the majority of the purchasing power in the retail music business. :(

The kid stinks, plain and simple. He's got a weak voice and a creepy smile...

Weren't Mary Kate and Ashley the most powerful force in show business before they became teenagers? Never underestimate the power of seven year olds :)

I guess you're right...I just don't like the kid and guarantee his music wouldn't sell.
