I don't agree with the results, but you could see this coming a mile away. I actually think Jordin will win now.

 

word on the street is that the smart money is on Blake because he's different, but I'm pulling for Jordin even though she's black (that's for the G-Man)

 

I already miss Melinda, who clearly is an amazing singer.

I am torn between Blake and Jordin. Blake has heart and is different. I don't think he is necessarily the best singer, but he is a definite entertainer. Jordin has heart, but she seems a little cookie cutter.

Like most reasonable people, I had not paid any particular notice of the race of any of the American Idol entertainers. It's a shame that some people like Baywatch68 would need to bring race up as a factor in an entertainment show that so many people in this thread have enjoyed commenting on without racial overtones.

I am guessing it doesn't mean anything other than an attempt to stir Gryphon's (G-man) pot a little (not that I am endorsing the statement).

I was shocked about it, too. I fail to see how a person's race is related to her singing or entertainment abilities. Unfortunately, the poster seems to think it is a factor, though. It's sad to see that the poster felt obligated to bring up in an American Idol thread.

I don't think it's a factor, but the way you tend to spin things, I was afraid that if I said I was pulling for Blake you would say something along the lines that I'm toeing the party line and that I was against Jordin because she's black and/or she's a female. And now you have made me ruin a thread. Thanks.

sorry, my bad. Won't happen again. In all seriousness, I can't stand Blake and the whole beatbox thing is so played out. I think that's why Doolittle got booted, the whole "I'm so surprised that everyone loves me" look got old. She will end up out selling everyone else combined from this season though.

No chance. She appeals to an older audience. Kids will gobble up or download far more songs from Blake or Jordin. I actually think if Phil were to put out a country CD, it would sell better than anything Melinda would do. And I think Melinda was far and away the best singer of the season.

 

too bad it's not a talent contest though. It's the world's biggest popularity contest.
