Could we get a hooters? I like them wings :D

All we can do is hope for the best outcome of businesses. If there's something you don't like, then don't go there and maybe they'll go out of business. If you don't like the mattress discounters, then don't shop there.

I never see anyone in there. I kind of feel bad for they people who work there. I drive by at night and you can just see them standing there all alone. I wonder how long it will take for it to fold?

I don’t know about that, I see the truck in my neighborhood at least a few times a week.

Rule #1: never feel sorry for mattress salesmen... they are the people who couldn't get a job at the used car lot.

I agree. Lots of talk no action. Partly because the developer makes up most of the HOA. So they back the idea of a hospital that is too close the existing one. Money to be made there. Money to be spent to protect residential from commercial areas.

I cannot believe you said that. One should be sensitive to people who might have lost their job and are trying to keep the value of one of their assets from dropping because the developer has chosen not to be a good neighbor. This does have impact on peoples lives.

Those of us who purchased property around the commercial area where assured, when we purchased, that the center would be build with some kind of visual barrier. Since the property has changed hands all accountability for protecting the residence from that view has vanished. The HOA should be my advocate. They surely are involved on the developers side of the Hospital issue.

The zoning board even recommended visual barriers when they approved the car wash. They sent a letter to the developer recommending some form of visual barrier. The developer has changed and will not return my calls. (HOA help here) Plus the current owner has stated that he will not block any view so his customers can maximize the visibility to the community.

    Tim-
Regarding your comment "The HOA should be my advocate. They surely are involved on the developers side of the Hospital issue."

I will continue to be your advocate regarding this issue. As you know, I have been involved in this issue from the first announcement of the plans for developing that site. I worked with Terrabrook to come up with a plan to provide more screening on your side of Chickacoan. I have set up meetings between residents (which I personally invited you to), Terrabrook, and Tetra. Now that we have a new developer, Van Metre, I will address this issue with them and, hopefully, they will follow through on Terrabrook's committment.

The HOA does not have any authority or control over the commercial development. We may not like it but that's the way it is.

We have an HOA Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday March 16 at 4pm in the Nature Center. If you, or any other concerned residents, would like to attend to express your concerns about the shopping center, call Wes and he can put you on the agenda.

Regarding the hospital, The developer has already sold them the property and made their money, so they don't need our support.
I support it because I believe it is a greatly needed facility in Loudoun County and a much better use for that site than a 1,000,000 square foot office complex.

Thanks Cliff. I'm very frustrated with Van Metre. I've talked to the Van Metre contact once. Since then, my phone calls have not been returned. I appreciate the help.

As for the hospital, we'll just have to disagree. I agree the county needs more beds, but there are other parts of the county where it would be better placed. Maybe closer to Leesburg. Distance is an important factor in a critical situation. Ashburn is more than covered by the distance of the existing hospital. The poor folks in Leesburg, Purcellville and Hamilton. I'd rather have the non-healthcare jobs in Broadlands.

    Thanks again.

Just when you thought it couldn't look any worse, they paint it light green!

    Tech Head-
It;s not light green! It's mint green! South Florida comes to Virginia! I doubt it will do much good, but I'm going to find out if the color was approved by Terrabrook/Van Metre.

    Quick survey, folks:
What do you think of the new color of the retail building?
A quick response would be appreciated. We have a Board meeting on Tuesday.
    Thanks,
    Cliff

I'm not quite sure if that's the finished color....could be a primer, but I've never seen a Miami Vice light mint green primer color on a building before....maybe Crockett and Tubbs selected it. My vote is that it is quite hideous.

I don't really mind it. IMO it sort of goes well with the style of the construction, and it is fairly close to the color of at least one of the houses across from the plaza.

Doesn't bother me, especially since we moved from that particular section a few months back. Now, if the inside of the pub is that color, I will have issues! :)

I think that they should keep the primer color on it just as is.
