How about neighborhood watch? I understand that Donna lives in the Hillside district. She might have also collected emails from their school directory.

It would be telling if our HOA conducted an investigation (ie: former HOA member) to compair the NHW List email list serve and see how many email addressed (originating from the NHW) are now on the CCoB list.

I doubt the PTA, ERMS, Boy Scouts, Football/Baseball (teams), Neighborhood Watch and etc - would have authorized the collection of emails to later be used (especially w/o authorization) for the Anti BRMC cause.

CCoB master email list is a fraud and the person(s) that put it together acted in a questionable manner.

except you'd never get the CCoB mailing list from them without a warrant.. so what can you do really?

But I think the Virginia Computer Crimes Act may be of interest.. notably

    Computer Fraud
    Computer Invasion of Privacy
A Class 6 Felony is punishable by
A Class 1 Misdomeaner is punishable by
I'm not a lawyer.. and most law I can find references specifically limiting government access to information - but I would have to assume that the abuse of access to personal information by an employee or delegate would have to constitute a violation of the law.

I have a child at Eagle Ridge, our email is listed in the directory, and I have never received an email from Inova of CCoB. From my experiences, this appears to be a flawed, innacurate accusation.

This will be my last post on this thread as this is a very hostile environment for those that don’t agree with a select few of the posters.

    I will say 2 things:

1- Your continued accusations are untrue, unfounded and simply mean. I have been successfully involved in this issue for 7 years and I do not recall where or from whom I have received many of the emails I have. I sent out that email to simply clean up my email list… It went to virtually everyone in my contacts. There was nothing sinister or unethical behind that. I too, have been added to emails that I did not request to be on. Some from these very people accusing me of a violation.

2- I think it says a lot about some of our HOA board members/committee members, who are the same individuals that (for years) I worked with, volunteered with and ate meals with, that not a single HOA representative called me directly to discuss any concerns they may have had. They felt it appropriate and a good professional representation to perpetuate these slanderous allegations.

It’s sad that a single issue or difference of opinion has brought out the worst in people.

Uh-huh. You still won't address why you don't just junk the entire list and start a new one with people asking to opt-in. Why won't you do that?

You make yourself out to be such a saint and everyone is attacking poor little you, boo hoo.

Your unethical actions bring out your true position, and everyone knows it.

Donna, the 2 issues for me are:

    1. that CCB "most likely" (not 100% certain) uses the e-mail list as some sort of official statistical barometer for how many people CCB says is against the hospital.

    2. that CCB (or Inova) would actually take ANY e-mail address given to them to USE for their list without vetting it.

Would you not be upset if you were, oh say, a staunch Democrat and the Republican party had your e-mail address and listed you as a GOP supporter voting for McCain?

E-mail addresses can be a funny things. Most people throw them around casually and think nothing of them. But when you use my address that was not given BY ME to support an issue that I am on the opposite side to "pad your numbers", then that is plain wrong.

I, for one, would take any numbers of supporters submitted by CCB with a rather large grain of salt and I think our supervisors will too.

Donna response 2365 is typical and has a pattern of history - anytime she is called out she cries the whole "poor martyr". interesting that her disclaimer has increased in the years fought prior to her employment @ Inova - I've seen 3 years, 4 years and now 5 years. She has zero credibility and her subsequent responses just add to the veracity of ppl's concerns about this Inova funded CCoB mouth piece.

Interesting that Inova just hired one the Nation's top PR firms - could it be the opposition to the hospital has dwindled from 4,000 to 2,500 to 500 ppl?

    Donna,

Ignorance of the law does not excuse one from following it...

Ignorance of how one gets a hold of something does not grant one the right to use it as they wish...

Ignorance of how people feel about having their personal information misused by someone may lead to someone using it inappropriately the first time - but once they are shown the error of their way it no longer excuses them from continuing to misuse that information. It makes the actions deliberate and intentional.

Playing the 'ignorance' card does not give anyone a free pass.

Sending emails out to people that you have no idea how you got their information is unethical and depending on how you got that information, could be illegal.

The simple fact you have sent mails out to addresses you have 'no idea' how you got a hold of is WRONG. It's not a mistake when you do it intentionally - multiple times. If it were 'honest mistakes', there are ways to resolve the issue - yet you and the group you are associated with deliberately refuse to take the ethical way out. That makes the whole thing dirty and soiled.

So much for the theory that the list was bought.

This thread is getting so far from the original start, it has become a personal attack on individuals, right or wrong. If this does not stop, the ADMIN's, Mr. Linux and Flinn should close this thread.

A couple weeks ago, we were having rational discussions about the pros and cons of BRMC. It seemed to me that the logic and rationale favored BRMC, and I had wished that those opposed to the hospital would contribute to the discussion. No one really showed up with substantive arguments and that's a shame. I understand why INOVA representatives wouldn't want to respond to personal attacks and innuendo (i.e. baseless conspiracy theories), but there were several legitimate questions that were raised. INOVA had an opportunity to respond with substance and chose not to. I think there is a reason why.

Why close it even if it is not related to the original post? It IS hospital related.

Silence, I think both HCA and Inova employees (with the exception of Donna and maybe a few "anonymous" people) avoid this thread like the plague. It would be highly dangerous for an employee of either company to make an allegation or a false statement to which they could possibly be held even remotely accountable for. Donna even states that she is speaking as a Broadlands resident and not a paid Inova employee (riiiiiiiiight ;))

I would truly like to know the accurate numbers of pro vs. con as it appears that the majority of people who post here are FOR the hospital.

Allegations and false statements? You mean the ones all over the aforementioned web site with the ambulances, crash scenes and highway traffic jams?! :)

The ironic thing is that when Donna and the new community organizer have posted here, they have hurt their position and not even provided substantive arguments for the most part.

I would appreciate, however, hearing legitimate concerns and arguments from residents here opposed to the hospital. I think there are legitimate reasons to oppose. It would also be very interesting to hear from people who have CHANGED their minds, and why.

Yes, but the continual accusations of people and the personal attacks on people are childish. It is a few people on this forum make it an agenda to blatantly attack people when for whatever reason they do not have the same opinion as someone.

I understand that an error in judgment or a mistake was made but for Cheese Sakes, drop it. You guys will beat a dead horse into the ground.

Chsalas, I agree about the personal attacks, but you must consider this is not a lone error in judgment, or is it a one time mistake, there is a pattern that goes back years. It represents a serial attempt at deception.

There is a solid factual basis for the discussion. It may seem personal but it is a reflective on an organization. An organization that is playing dirty pool associated with folks being able to analyze facts. In that context I have no problem with the nature of the discussion.

The pool has been pee'd in by both parties. That fact I will agree with you on, but regardless, the constant attacks and accusations of people on this forum, particularly in this thread is out of control and the ADMINS should step in, and in some cases not add fuel to the fire.

I don't know if I agree with your H2O analogy. I am not sure if I understand the context. If we are going to talk organization and not personal. I must say HCA has been exceptionally represented. I am not sure throwing mud to the other side, in this case, will make Inova and it's business practices anymore acceptable.

Now if you're talking personal attack, mono a mono then I agree with your H20 observation.

I don't understand how any resident opposed to the hospital would debate the topic on this forum when it's clear there are a handful of posters who continually criticize or berate anyone's opposing opinion or concern, ligitimate or otherwise and outwardly sully the reputation of another Broadlands resident when it's not evident there's any wrongdoing.

The latest diatribe about "illegally" obtained e-mail addresses is ludicrous and is tantamount to a "witchhunt".

I had originally opposed having a hospital located 5 miles from another one but was recently rethinking my decision, however the continual blather voiced on this thread leads me to believe my original decision is the right one.

    I say, continue on course.
