Thank you, KTdid, for the balanced perspective and optimism that seems to be missing from the constant blabber about "recessions" (not here yet) and "crises" of every kind. This is America--there are ALWAYS opportunities.

If you were patient and saved your cash, this is a GREAT time to purchase a home. There are business opportunities out there, and it's always good to have a reality check, to focus on what's most important. Thanks for posting this!

    SilenceDogood99 and others--

You are right. Living within one's means is the true way to financial success. Being frugal and thrifty yet giving to others is our "Mennonite Mantra"--.

Seriously, if you spend time listening or reading all the "media-driven Recession" news, you begin to believe it. Boy, I am glad we don't own any TV(s). We got rid of TV(s) eons ago. Too depressing--plus we are too busy to watch TV as well as our kids.;)

As someone once said, "You need to have your own financial house in order and not worry too much about the White House." Totally true--no government bailouts.

When every single media report mentions "the recession," it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in many respects. You can NEVER go wrong being frugal and giving to others. I love that saying about your own house and the White House--very true.

Re: 10 reasons to love a recession--or not?

    SilenceDogood99--You are welcome--

I agree that when people depend on the government to bailout citizens from financial woes; therefore, it does not bode well for the other people who are savvy about their own finances. No, I am not saying that we should not show empathy to others; but if you buy more than you can feasibly afford--most likely you are living beyond your means. Not everyone does this; however, sometimes people try to keep up with "Joneses" instead of "themselves".

Entitlement to what our parents and the generations who came before us without working or planning your "own house" is not success to us. Success to us (speaking of ourselves) is assisting others in times of dire straits, good or bad times, etc. There are plenty of Americans who don't live beyond their means; but today's young couples or singles wants every thing so fast in this fast-paced life. What is wrong with waiting and not buying the "latest and greatest toys?" Yes, if you can afford it, by "buy" (bad pun--;)) all means do so. Just sometimes it would be nice if people slowed down in this fast world. Okay I am off my "soapbox"--no harm intended.

    11) One more reason to love a recession "LESS UNSOLICITED BULK MAIL"

Has anyone else noticed? It's amazing how much companies have scaled back on mailers!
