The Vivian family, who has lived in the Broadlands for nearly ten years, lost a husband and father to cancer in May. The idea was planted to host an annual golf tournament in Scott's memory. We felt this was most fitting in that golf was one of Scott's favorite sports, and a golf tournament gives us an opportunity to gather to remember his life and his family. As you will later read, it also gives us a chance to support an organization that is very special to Robin and the girls.

The First Annual Scott A. Vivian Memorial Golf Tournament is being held on Saturday, September 16 at Westpark Golf Course in Leesburg, VA. We anticipate a great day - a full field of golfers playing in a scramble format . . . shotgun start at 12 noon . . . banquet on-site following the golf.

It is Robin's desire that all proceeds from this event are donated to Capital Hospice - we've coined the term "19 Holes for Hospice". Hospice was a valuable partner to Robin and the girls, helping to make their final days with Scott much more dignified and memorable. In fact, the tournament is being promoted on the Capital Hospice website (www.capitalhospice.org), with a link to an informational website we created for the tournament (www.19holesforhospice.com). We are excited to be able to support a cause so valuable and dear to the Vivian family.

So, now it's up to you - we hope that you'll consider participating as either a player, a volunteer or a sponsor. Just drop me an email (tommichaelian@msn.com) with your specific interest and I'll promptly reply with more information.

What a wonderful idea to set this up. I already have plans and will be out of town that day. Otherwise, I's bring my 40+ handicap out there and tear up (literally) the course with you.
Scott was a great friend and neighbor and is truly missed.

I think it is a great idea also and would love to play but will be on vacation.

Cliff, 40+??? Must be a Michigan thing. Us Buckeyes must whip you in golf too. BTW, I am a 1.8 :D

Yeah, but I don't take mulligans, tee my ball up in the fairways, or kick the ball from the rough to the fairway, unlike those from that state "down south."!

HEY! I only take 1 mulligan per hole. I do not tee it up in the fairway, I just fluff it up real nice-like. And I CERTAINLY do not kick the ball. I gracefully bend over, pick up the ball and gently roll it into the fairway. Kicking could put a scuff mark on my shiny golf ball! :D

The tournament is less than 3 weeks away, and we're still in need of 40 more golfers - please consider joining us individually or get together with your neighbors and put together a team.

Send me a email (tommichaelian@msn.com) or call 703-729-7308 if you need a registration form.

Also, if you're affiliated with a local business, we're in need of contributions for prizes or sponsorships. All proceeds are going to Capital Hospice.

Attention all Broadlands golfers - - there's still time to register. We have room for another 7 or 8 foursomes, or you can register as a single and we'll place you on a team.

If you have an interest in playing, either email or call me and I'll get you a registration form. (For anyone that might be interest in only attending the banquet following the golf, the same registration form can used.)

So for those of you sitting on the fence, get going and register for a great day of golf and fellowship, as well as for a very good cause.
