This Memorial Day Weekend, Stone Bridge’s Running Dog Productions—the team who shot Seussical to great heights last spring—brings to life the Elton John/Tim Rice musical Aida. Adapted from the classic opera by Verdi, the musical tells the story of the Egyptian captain Radames, who accidentally falls in love with the captured slave girl, Aida. Radames is also enmeshed in the evil palace intrigues of his father, Zoser, which include an arranged marriage to Amneris, Pharaoh’s daughter.

This tale of star-crossed lovers may be tragic in form, but it’s also filled by moments of high comedy and adventure, powered by a contemporary score that weaves through multiple genres—girl-group Motown, laid-back reggae, gospel, classic Broadway, Afro-pop, and rock’n’roll—all interpreted by Dave Keller’s crackerjack squad of musicians. Choreographers have cooked up their usual high-energy dance extravaganzas, and the Running Dog set designers have been working overtime on a drop-dead stage set that will transport you to ancient Egypt in all its epic grandeur. It’s an emotional roller coaster: come out and enjoy!

    Production Dates: May 24-26
    Curtain: 7:30 pm
Tickets: $5.00, available at the door

FWIW ... in case you don't know, the Broadway version was a Disney production, and probably suitable for most of the family ;)

Tonight is the last performance. Saw the production at teh Kennedy Center - this one's better :)

Yes, it's "family friendly", but make no mistake - this is a classic tragedy.
