I have to chime in here. We're over budget for snow removal and our rates will more than likely increase 2011 but we're having a mardi gras with FREE food, drink, door prizes and giveaways??? Courtesy of the "events committee"? Are they ponying up the funds for this event?

we have a budget and we organize neighborhood events within that budget. we negotiate deals to spend the money wisely to offer free events to residents. we were planning this event long before snow fell.

you are more than welcome to attend KTdid, and pay a cover charge of an amount of your choice, from which we will donate 100% toward snow removal.

now if we could please get back to the business of advertising one of the many benefits of living in a neighborhood that has a fantastic group of volunteers that spend time planning and executing events that make the Broadlands a fun place to live, where neighbors can get together and socialize in the community center in the 'hood, and feel some fun that HOA dues provide.

    AAAIIIIIEEEEEE!

No your HOA dollars are ponying up for it . Your contribution to this event was probably 32 cents.
Feel free to file a complaint with the HOA Board.

And be confident your HOA fees will increase. There is no other way to pay for snow removal of such epic proportions we have had this year.
I do not believe canceling all social/community events is a reasonable suggestion to offset it.

The entire Events Committee budget amounts to about eight tenths of one percent of the entire HOA budget.

and if i may SAY so.. it is well managed and WELL SPENT. last night's party was SO MUCH FUN! The entire committee worked together to put on a wonderful community event and it WAS. everyone danced, ate and enjoyed amazing authentic hurricanes... aiiiieee!! :) there were some fabulous mardi gras masks and loads of beads, the decorations (recycled from past parties and still fantastic!) were beautiful.

thanks to all the residents who came out, shook it on the dance floor and had a GREAT time. Neil is an excellent deejay- I can't remember the last time I danced that much! I met some wonderful new neighbors, we gave away movie tickets and gift certificates to Cajun Experience- who catered the event and the FOOD WAS FANTASTIC.

I hope to see even more of you at the next event- we are lucky to have our amazing event chairwoman who puts these events together, orgainzes committee member participation, and makes it look effortless!!!
THANK YOU BROADLANDS COMMITTEE MEMBERS- GREAT JOB.

I'd like to post some highlights from the Mardi Gras party on the Loudoun Times Broadlands website. If you have photos, praises or a tale to tell about the evening please send the info to mamatothree@aol.com.
