I'm just waiting for The Smoking Gun to uncover a past cocaine arrest or something along those lines. This season does have some unique 'talent' in it.

Off Topic: Brim/Jame Gum, love the avatar.

Was she a great big fat person?

I'm thinking of changing my screen name to Jack Gordon.

So if he had done it straight Johnny Cash you would have been okay with that? Hoestly I think he is the smartest contestant on the show. He found a version of a 50"s song that would work to his advantage and for the most part he nailed it. Besides Katherine and Mandisa no one even comes close.

The problem I had with it is that they played it off as if he actually arranged the song when in reality he did nothing of the sort. Just another cover of another bands version.

There is nothing at all wrong with that. They played it up more than it was. Just don't play it off like he arranged it which they did. :)

They did the same thing last year when someone sang a country version of Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart. (Was it Carrie?) Anyway, they said how it was great she made it her own and did a country thing to it. Of course, all fans of country music knew she was doing Faith Hill's version.

It was obvious to me that Chris couldn't have arranged "I Walk The Line" that well in one week. So, not knowing LIVE from Adam, I checked All Music guide for recent versions and spotted it right away, listened to a snippet, and realized that's where he got it from. I don't know why they don't call the judges on this stuff.

Who's "they"? The contestants? I highly doubt Fox would canibalize it's own top rated show.

    No.

And I still think Taylor Hicks should win, but I'm biased being a blues fan. I found three of his original songs on a Birmingham radio website and they're excellent:

(links at the bottom). I respect the guy for being able to play an instrument as well...

Without a doubt. I can't wait until Taylor plays some Joe Cocker or something along those lines.

    Would ya.

how do we know that the producers didn't edit out Chris saying that it was performed that way by Live? I'm sure he knew- just because the judges appeared not to know or acknowledge it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Live was huge in the 90's- it wouldn't take much digging to get that info. The judges created that controversy out of nothing with their comments... anything to make the already astronomical ratings go up, jeez.

maybe it's a ploy to get voters off of Chris's side to get whoever Fox really wants in the top spot without Chris spoiling their plans... is nothing sacred?!?!? rigging AI votes??1 what's next... lol

Ok so Katherine is my favorite girl & Taylor favorite guy. I think Lisa will go home after last night's performance. She doesn't seem to be quite into it. Bucky is a close 2nd. He just doesn't do it for me, the singing voice is distinct but..eh.

And at first when Simon said Mandisa was being "indulgent" I didn't know what the heck he meant :huhsign: BUT I figured it out with Chris. They are indulging their personal styles of choice, not the types of songs pop fans typically want.

I thought last night was the worst night so far. Pretty much every single performance was bad either for bad singing or horrible song choice. After all the media flack Chris got for using the band Live's version of the song they actually set aside a minute to blow it off. I thought that was funny.

Just a really bad night. I really agreed with Simon on almost every performance. I think it's obvious that Lisa is going home though. Poor girl had to go first.

I wasn't impressed last night either. I was excited they'd be singing newer songs but didn't like their choices. Kellie looked like a deer in the headlights and Ace looked really shaky. Strange night!

Katherine in the bottom three? Looks like 'vote for the worst' may be working out for ol' Pickler.

    I've got the McFever, too.

She's clearly one of the most talented, polished, and mature performers in the bunch. She's not a one-trick pony like Pickler and a few others.

Maybe she's a victim of too much favorable press--since everybody knows she's one of the best voters might not think they have to vote for her.
