Next week we will be headed to NYC to see Virginia's Finest James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade! We'll be staying around 7th and 53rd. Anyone have any suggestions on T-day dinner up there? I know alot of the restaurants up there are costly for that evening, I want to make sure they're good, too.

JMU will have a busy weekend, up to NYC for the parade and then back to JMU for the first round of playoffs. GO JMU!

We went last year and had a great time! As for dinner, we did not feel it was necessary to have a traditional dinner (and yes, many were over priced) and opted for italian (hard to go wrong in NY for italian!).

As for the parade, make sure you get out fairly early to get a spot immediately behind a barracade. The whole parade route gets several people deep as it gets closer to the start time. T8ergirl got up at 0530 to head out and stake our territory. Chairs and blankets, if cold are a must! Suggest bringing thermoses for your own coffee/hot chocolate or other beverages ;) You can get breakfast in the numerous cafes/shops but make sure you do this early also.

We went with another family and took turns sitting at our "encampment" before the parade, that way no one was stuck sitting at the curb for a hours on end. If you have little ones, make sure you bring entertainment to keep them occuoied before the parade starts.

    Have a blast!
