Appraisal Company

    Can any one suggest an independent appraisal company? My bank wont do an appraisal unless I refinance with them but given my situation I need an appraisal done first and then I will decide if I should refinance or sell. I need a company that wont charge an arm and a leg.

    I sure do, they are a really great company. Give me a buzz at 703-929-5716 or email me at joe@joeknowsva.com and I will give you all the info. Appraisals typically cost anywhere from 350-1000 based on the size of your home. If your in a town home under 3500 sq ft you can expect about 350, single family under 5000 sq ft around 450. I might be able to help you with the refi too.

    I can say that "Mid-Atlantic Group of Virgina, Inc" did not even get the number of rooms right on our refi...

    I would not recommend "Alfred Heck & D". Showed up at the house with no camera (I took the pictures and emailed them to them). Didn't know difference between vinyl and hardiplank siding. Fortunately the appraisel came in on the low side of what I needed, but I've never seen anyone so unprepared and unknowledable about a house and neighborhood.......
