We went last spring and chose two cats to bring home. It's been fun to watch brother cats grow up together.

Yes, anyone who considers getting a new pet, please adopt a homeless dog or cat. Do not keep the puppy mills in business. As for puppy mills, I'm told Oprah is featuring an expose today on puppy mills and talks about two mills that were shut down in Virginia.

Some people think there must be something wrong with a pet to cause them to be homeless...but pets become homeless for a million reasons. Their owners get divorced and neither wants the pet, their owners move and can't take the pet, they had a baby and no longer can give it any attention, they work a lot and just don't have the time for it, their kids are allergic, they developed allergies. All these and many more are just some of the reasons why perfectly nice, lovable, often housetrained animals of all ages wind up facing euthanasia at the pound and are rescued by shelters. There are a bunch of rescued pets in Broadlands!

Thanks - it is so nice of you to think of making a donation! I am sure the volunteers there will welcome donations for FOHA. You can also make donations anytime online by credit card at http://www.foha.org/main.asp?id=7 . Best regards,
    Audrey

I can personally vouch for what a great organization FOHA is, we adopted the most amazing dog from there. All of the dogs (and cats) are well taken care of and the staff does a great job of learning about each dog to help you decide if it will be a good fit for your family (kids, no kids, other dogs or animals, etc.). In addition, with the services they provide (like neutering), it ends up being cheaper than other adoptions.
