I'm thinking of changing from Verizon to AT&T - to get an iphone. Does anyone have any input regarding coverage in the area with AT&T? Thanks!

In Southernwalk, it blows! Outside of this area, it's not bad.

Chsalas - check your phone. I have a first gen iPhone and I get full bars everywhere in this area. Inside some structures is not so good, but your phone SHOULD be off in schools, hospitals & movies. I get full coverage all the way down I81 and into Charlotte. I get coverage into the Adirondacks except thru the smaller towns of Greene, Waterford, Sherbourn, etc.

I had great coverage in Monterrey, Mexico, not so much in the BadLands between the Texas border & Monterrey.

The iPhone is fun - Dooo Eeeeeeet!!!!!

I have AT&T - have used it in Hawaii, CA, NY, CO, all over with no problem. I agree, deep inside some grocery stores, no signal. I can deal with that - and of course the Metro, but I ready where Metro is going to allow other cell phone providers access.

I'm in Southern Walk and I switched from Verizon to AT&T a couple of years ago. AT&T's reception in SW has gotten better. I even get full bars in my basement. All in all, I'm satisified. My only compaint is that AT&T drops more calls than I had on Verizon, but not enough for me to go back to Verizon.

I just bought an iPhone after having Verizon for many years. I love the phone but hate AT&T. I haven't noticed coverage problems here in NoVA but I just returned from a trip to southwestern Colorado and NM. The coverage was pretty non existent out there. Big cities were fine but anything outside of the major city was very spotty. It was extremely frustrating as I've never had a problem with Verizon there. If I had known this before getting the phone I wouldn't have switched.

With 2 of my ATT phones, on Larchmont, 1 bar if I'm lucky, outside. Once out of the development, it's mediocre at best.

I heard the same thing. Basically when you are around the border of Texas, you should have a full strong signal with no issues. I hope it works for you next time you try it.
