REPORTING THIS FROM BRAMBLETON MESSAGE BOARD- PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT

"Just an FYI.....today we had a package stolen off our front porch in broad daylight. UPS delivered it in the early afternoon, and minutes later, my neighbor watched it being taken off my porch by a man (looked to be in his 20's, difficult to see him clearly as he was wearing winter gear, hat, etc..). He was with a woman who was driving an older tan sedan (later confirmed to be a gold camry). They were driving very slowly down our street, and then came to a stop in front of my house. The man got out of the car, walked up on my front porch, picked up the box, and then returned to the car and drove away.

My neighbor didn't realize at the time that anything was wrong....she assumed that he was picking something up that I had left for him on my porch. When I later told her that UPS had delivered a package at 1:20pm and I never received it....she immediately informed me of what she had witnessed in that same exact time frame. It's as though the sedan was following right behind the UPS truck looking to steal packages. The box was found this evening a few blocks from my house....it was ripped open and abandoned on the side of the road (with the contents missing).

I called Amazon, and they immediately offered to credit my account for the item. So I haven't lost anything. But it is unbelievable that someone would come right up to my front door in broad daylight like that. I spoke to another neighbor tonight, and when I relayed the story to her....she said that she has seen a tan sedan <GOLD CAMRY> driving up and down our street several times lately in the middle of the day. She noticed them because they always look lost and drive very slowly. "

PLEASE CALL THE NON EMERGENCY SHERRIFF'S LINE IF YOU SEE THIS VEHICLE ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY!

Sorry to hear that.... hope these guys are caught soon.

Is this an old incident (which happened sometime during December) or a brand new one?
I heard a similar story here in our forum about few asian teens doing the same act.

Yikes. Yet another reason to set up a surveillance camera. Hope they get caught, that should be quite a serious offense.

Yep, that was a gold Camry also.

Here's an inexpensive way to do surveillance w/ email notification but limited resolution:

    http://www.broadlandshoa.org/hoaforum/showthread.php?t=22536

Another example (concept only the 1031 is VGA resolution):

    http://www.axis.com/products/cam_m1031w/movie/index.htm

Above works using the built in PIR motion detect (which will not work through a window). Or if you want to spend a little more and have it in HD check out the Axis P1344 to P1347 range, or the dome version P3344. They are a bit more but can sometimes be had for 1/2 list on ebay. These also motion detect events and record to SD so you don't even need a computer running, although you have to be a little more technical to set them up.

If anyone wants to see an example of the P3344 and Vitamin D PM me.

    Mike
