There are blue dots on some townhouse lamp posts. Some home owners have removed them but then there is another blue dot on their lamppost the next day. What do they mean?

Pretty sure it distinguishes "Sunday only" vs. daily deliveries of the Post, so delivery person can fling your paper under your car without too much effort. '-)

Huh, I thought that was what the white star-type sticker was on our mailbox.

Yellow is for the Washington Times. Not sure which color is for USA Today. Same guy delivers all three......

I would take "under the car" over "on the sidewalk" any time. By the time I get up the paper is 2 houses down on the street.

The best is when it snows in the night and you have to guess where to start shoveling! I once found my paper two weeks later as the snowbank started to melt......

Hmmm, we get the Washington Post everyday and don't have any dots on our lampost. And there's a house that has been empty for a couple of years that has a blue dot on theirs. Strange.

The individual carrier determines which dots to use. They are helpful for seeing when it's dark and helps them determine weekend, Sunday only, etc. If it's on an empty house, they probably just forgot to remove it. But homeowners should not be removing them off their lamp posts, as it is the carrier's "system" to assist them in delivery.
P.S. I don't think the delivery person has control over snow...

True, but it is my lamp post. It may help in delivery, but I don't agree with putting stickers on someone's personal property.

I live in a townhouse...no mailbox. I'm not concerned, just thought it was strange.
