The Broadlands HOA Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday, 4-6pm, in the Nature Center.
The meeting is open to all residents.

    Cliff,
I am soon to be a new resident in the Broadlands. Is there a reason that the board meetings are held when most people are working or commuting from work? I have lived/volunteered in the Farms and Carisbrooke (both of which had 7pm meetings). I realize that a large majority of the board appears to be developer related and maybe they dont want to come back (or stay in the area) until 7pm but seems to me that since the meetings are open to all residents - maybe making it at a time that is a little more realistic to those that work outside the area would make more sense.
    Not a sermon - just a thought.

    Hi Beahmer-
We began the meetings at 4pm in order to make it easier (for the Board members).
If there is a sense amongst the community that they would like to attend but the time is not appropriate, we could consider changing to a later time.,
Frankly, there has been little interest shown by residents to attend.

    Cliff,
I would attend, but the meeting are so early I can't. I suspect a lot more residence would attend if the meetings were at reasonable hours. I leave work at 4:30 and by the time I get from tysons to here, it's almost 5:30. Maybe the board could consider moving the meeting to a later time slot

I agree...I think the current board meetings are too early for most people to attend. I would like to them no earlier than 6:30 so those of us who might be interested in attending could get home from work.

    Cliff,
Not sure how much interest there would have to be - but looks like there are at least 3 of us :)
Maybe it can be dicussed at the next meeting and be changed for the new year.

That was my first question as well when I moved here a few months ago. I had never heard of having HOAs meeting during the day. I thought one of the points of the meetings was to allow a time for homeowners to speak if they had a topic to discuss at the beginning of the meetings. I definitely think the meetings should be in the evening when residents would have an opportunity to attend.

We discussed changing the time for the BOD meetings to try to accommodate the residents who may be interested in attending. We are going to start them at 5:30 and any residents (as always) are welcome to attend, when they can. We are going to try this new time for 3 months to see if any residents attend, if no one attends we will be returning to the 4:00 start time. Hope to see you there.

    Donna,
Thanks for the response. I would suggest this be advertised in the newsletter (front page if possible) then conduct your test since a large portion of people may not see it here.
    Just a thought!
