My wife and I tried the new Broadlands Pub and Grill last Friday. Here are some impressions:

Pro: Average sports decor, but very good TV's, strategically placed. Good sound system. The staff was super friendly and efficient. My wife had a quesadilla appetizer, and I had a cheeseburger, which we both liked. Overall the atmosphere seemed fun, and would seem like a good place to watch a football game on a weekend afternoon.

Con: The place is a little crowded -- I wish it had more square footage. The wait time for food was a bit long (luckily, we weren't in any kind of rush, so it didn't matter). Draft beers come in 12 or 22 ounces; I'd prefer a pint. My biggest complaint though, is that the place seems overpriced to me. Most entrees were in the $14-$18 range, which didn't seem to me to be in line with what one pays at a small neighborhood pub. (Then again, I didn't sample any of the entrees, so they may be worth it.) A glass of red wine was $6, as was the 22 oz. beer, which also seems high to me. Towards the end of our meal, a bit of cigarette smoke wafted over to us. I don't care if people smoke, but I'd prefer not to smell it -- I tend to patronize places that have pretty well defined and sized smoking / non smoking sections. The pub is so small, that any smoke is petty much going to affect most patrons.

All in all, it was a nice place that I'll certainly visit on occasion. However, IMHO, you get a lot more value for your money at Dominion Brewery.

You'd expect to pay less for an entree crafted by an 'executive chef' who's 'just returned from the US Open'? You'll pay more and wait longer for your food and like it!...OR GET OUT, NO SOUP FOR YOU! The Executive Chef has no time for those who can't fathom his culinary genius!

Someone had mentioned that they have plans to expand into the space next door. I don't know what the timeframe is on that though. That may help with the smoke situation.

Yes they are working on the plans with the architect now for the adjoining space that they were able to lease. They are also hoping to designate a non-smoking area when it is built. Time frame? Not sure- can't remember...
I would like to hijack this tjhread as well for the Broadlands Live! plug:)
The Broadlands Pub & Grill is one of our generous sponsors. Plan on heading there after the show this Friday night!

I aggree with FLnative, the place has great potential, but the prices are a bit high. As for a Pub and grill, well, too many children there with Mom and Dad. I want to drink a few beers and watch the game, I don't want to have to wade through a sea of highchairs strolers

We have tried yesterday for dinner. They have nice choices of food.
Prices are okay. I like their TVs. Atmosphere is very good when
compare to the other pubs...its very decent. They don't have much
dessert choices though. They have plans to expand and they
mentioned that they are going to expand by middle of October and
they are going to put more draft beer choices too. I definately
    go there again.

My wife and I tried it a few weeks ago. The prices are too high for what they serve. The place reeks of cigarette smoke. I can't see any reason to go back there.

It is a shame too, because Ashburn needs more restaraunts.

I was talking to the owner, when they expand, they are going to have extra smoke eaters installed, and is considering a full non-smoking area in the newer section.

    And Guinness on draught !!

Technically, since it's called a pub, shouldn't they have had Guinness on draught already?

FINALLY! Guinness alone is reason to go! :)

My toddler son and I went there the first time the other day for an early dinner. It was pretty much what I expected. The food was okay, service was okay, beer was cold. It was sparsely populated and there was only one person smoking at the bar. But the smell was still fairly strong. Maybe the strong smell will prevent some parents from bringing their children. We will certainly not take our son during peak hours when there are likely to be alot more smokers.

Looking forward to my first game there. Maybe when the Skins beat the Pats in the super Bowl! (wishful)

Pub means Alchohal and smoke. I don't see any reason to
complain about smoke in pubs. But this pub is lot better than
    any other pubs.
