    Hello All,
Is there any kind of warranty that comes with exterior caulking of the house. Our house is 3 years old and the caulking is pretty bad. the whole caulking has to be redone. Please do let me know if this is normal and if at all it is covered under any kind of home warranty.

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.

I would seriously doubt that you would get a builder to cover caulking under warranty. This is a maintenance item and usually required to be done as needed, sometimes yearly or less frequently.

    Beahmer and Mr.Linux,
we being the first time homeowners and getting the caulking done for the first time, how much (ball park) would they usually be charging to re-caulk the whole exterior for a 2600 sq.ft single family home?

    thanks

Honestly, I wouldn't know, since we got ours painted and the caulking/priming, etc was included in the quote.

Kris will come down and give you a very accurate quote with no obligation on your part. That should give you an idea of the cost, as well as something to use if you want to shop around...

If it's just caulking you want done I'd do it myself. Not sure how much you actually have as far as trim etc, but caulk is only a few dollars/tube and would take you that long overall I would think.

It does take long when you figure that you will be stripping off all the old caulk BEFORE applying the new one. If you're just going to caulk over the old, hardened caulk, you're in for a big surprise...

When they prepped our house for painting, the first half day was dedicated to stripping caulk and reapplying a new batch. And this was with 3 professionals going up/down ladders all over the place.
