Since when McDonald's charges a small cup of water when you order food ?
I ordered food many times in different McDonald's and never heard of that.
Is that a new policy or something to do with the Gas price now ? (which I think is going down or at least steady for awhile)

Maybe they just misunderstood your request - I've asked for a cup for water numerous times without any charge.

More than likely they charged you for the cup, not the water. If the charge was for 10 or 15 cents, that's what happened. Otherwise, you just got dorked.

Well, my mother got charge 50 cents for it, and that why it made me mad.
According to her, there was Indian guy said no more free water and they would charge 50 Cents from now on for a cup of water.
Next time I will take my mother to McDonalds, look for that guy and ask for a cup of water and see what he would say about it.
Because you are right and to test it, I asked for 2 cups of water earlier today (with different people of course because I didn't see the guy my mother encountered earlier), and I didn't get charge $ for them.
Must be she an old lady ? ;)

In the McDonald's in Reston, I got charged a $1 for a small cup of water (it even said Small Water on the receipt) with my order. I couldn't believe it but it was drive through and didn't realize till I got to the office.

Ok, that's 'smells' odd; I've seen people buy BOTTLED water at MCD and getting charged $1 and seeing the line item 'Small Water' on their receipt.

It happened to me to me a couple of weeks back. I think it was simply a mistake - communication gap of bottle vs tap. I simply drew their attention to the mistake (actually had hardly started my sentence to correct the order) and he deleted the charge. You gotta love those point of order screens on the drive-thru.

Went through the McD's drive through for the first time. Had to repeat..s-l-o-w-l-y twice to be understood by the person. Then I made the mistake of asking how much the chicken snacker cost. It went something like this:
Me: "how much is the chicken snack wrap?"
Voice from sign: "You want a McChicken?"
    Me: "No, how..much..is..the..chicken..snacker..sandwich?"
VFS: "You want one chicken snacker sandwich?"
Me: (Now more loudly) "HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?"
VFS: "Oh.......I don't know......dollar twenty five or dollar fifty, something like that."
Me: I now give up. "Okay, I'll take one."

    Gotta love it!!

I hope the manager does a better job managing this SW McD branch - it's so new and looks nice, but the employees do not seem to care. I was there last week around 4pm - no other customer was inside and there were four employees talking among themselves - two tables had food wrappers/trays, etc. and nobody made any attempt to clean up; even the iced tea "pot" was not refilled and I had to ask someone to get me iced tea. :(

mcdonalds is pretty heavy in their regional management overlays. complain to the customer comment/satisfaction lines... and they WILL hear about it in the store.

    Cliff,

It could have been an illegal immigrant. Some of these broadlands businesses are completely unsatisfactory. Look forward to hearing where else there could be a problem. I've never heard of anyone having a problem communicating with staff at a fast-food restaurant through the drive-thru.

All of the sudden this thread turns into the immigration debate.

I dont know what fast food joints ya'll might be driving through, but I havent seen a fast food employee yet that is from "round these here parts." Why do you think McD's went to picture menus? Face it, we live in a multi-cultural society. Move to the middle of Wisconsin, if you dont want to hear a foreign accent through the speaker at a McD's.

At least they are getting jobs, and becoming productive members of society. Thats more than I can say for some.

Actually, most rural area "establishments" are worked by the local populace. On a recent trip down to Lexington, Va we stopped twice and both times the employess of the fast-food joint and the restaurant were majority white teenage and young adults with a Flo or two mixed in. :)

Immigrants, legal or not TYPICALLY live in cities and large suburban areas because that is where the work is.

I really hope you are being sarcastic. The problems with communicating with drive-through employees has been so prevelant in the past that it has found its way into TV and Movies for many years.

Well in that case I think you may need a PC tech to come out to your house to ensure that your "Insert Sarcasm" button is working on your keyboard. If it doesnt work you could always use the HTML tag "[sarcasm][/sarcasm]".

If this McDonald's is employing illegal immigrants, please call the authorities! It is illegal to employ people who are not legally in this country, and we need to report employers who break the law.

This problem would be solved if McDonald's got rid of humans at the counter and replaced them with terminals like the airlines use for self check-in at the airport.
