My husband and I have a 3 month old daughter and I have just gone back to work. We're looking for some guidance on child care for 2 days a week (Thursdays and Fridays). Due to the nature of our jobs, we both work 12 hour shifts, so we'd need someone from 12p/1p (so my husband can sleep/go to work) to 6:30/7:00p when I can get out of work. Because the nature of our schedules can change and I especially could be delayed at the last minute, we need a little flexibility.

With that said, we were considering a college student, but are looking for someone to come to our home as an optimal situation, but wouldn't mind other alternative solutions.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Why don't you put a classified ad in the spanish language newspapers. You could specify that English and legal status is a must. You could also specify that experience and references are required. Many of these recent immigrants are wonderful people whose shift work might easily fit with your schedule.

You'll be surprised by the number of responses, but you will get what you pay for (that is you might want to offer a pretty good hourly rate).

You can get a list of licensed in-home daycare providers - some are very flexible about their hours.

My wife and I are expecting our first born in January. Where might we be able to get that list of in-home providers.

This might help you to get a list of day-care providers:

    http://inetdocs.loudoun.gov/dss/doc...i-1/voluntarilyregi.pdf#search="703-858-2577"

This list includes individual providers that have met requirements for daycare in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The
providers listed below are referrals. Their listing here is not a recommendation or endorsement.
