I hate the clutter of cable boxes sitting on top of the TV stand, so much so that I still have basic analog cable which is boxless (this does allow me to receive locals in HD and digital channels for "free"). I am pondering upgrading to full HD service but want to keep the clutter-free existence by putting the HD box (tuner, DVR, whatever) inside the TV cabinet, out of sight. So... the question is: do either of the providers give you a RF remote that will work with the box inside the cabinet behind closed doors? Standard remotes are usually IR which requires line of sight.

    thanks.

No - but you can get buy an IR repeater if you want or buy a universal remote that does RF with IR blasters.

I have a Harmony remote from Logitech and love it! Mine is IR but they also make RF ones. I program the remote from the computer and it does everything in a very easy to understand interface. Look for good deals from Amazon or Buy.com on refurbished models.
