We just noticed (we are on our 5th month in house) in our unfinished basement that there are at least two major cracks running the full width of the concrete floor in our basement.

Is this something VM needs to fix or are we in the hopper to do it ourselves?

Cracks in concrete floors are common. Your contract with Van Metre should have a section that discusses cracks. If they are more than a certain width, they will come back and address them. Unless they are wall cracks that are significant in size, they usually are filled in with a concrete filler. If the width of the crack is smaller than the thickness of a quarter, they probably won't do anything.

One of them is a little wider then a quarter and really long, it is also coming up out of the floor - sortof one side pushing the other side up. We will contact VM and see what they say.
