Broadland Families - Every year, the Cub Scouts help the community by collecting non-perishable food items. Tomorrow, Cub Scout Pack 1484 will be placing Scouting for Food (SFF) bags on your front door, mailbox, or garage door. We'll be picking up the bags on 11/12. Please consider donating - all you need to do is place some food stuffs in the bags and put them out on the morning of 11/12. Thanks in advance for your support!

    To all,
Well, we were out in force today. However, we ran out of bags! We're going to try and get some additional bags and drop them off early this week. However, if we don't get the bags, please use an existing bag and put any non-perishables in it for collection next Saturday, 11/12.
My Den alone missed Ridgeway from Ayr Hill to Claiborne and all the attached side streets.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Some extra bags were distributed today along Ridgeway and the adjacent courts.

To all - please leave you bags out on your front porch on Saturday starting at 8:15 am (we'll start the pick-up at 8:30 am). We may knock on doors where we don't see bags since that greatly increases the amount of food collected and donated to needy families.

Thanks in advance from the Cub Scouts!

UPDATE: Today, Saturday November 3, the cub scouts will be back out to put bags on your front doorknob for 2012 Scouting for Food.

Please place non-perishable items in the bags and put them back on your front porch NEXT Saturday, November 10th, and the scouts will be back out in force to collect your donations and deliver them to local food banks.

If for some reason you do not get a bag, or are feeling extra generous, ANY bag will do. It doesn't have to be the one they drop off today. You can use those old Harris Teeter plastic bags or anything you have!

    Thank you.

One more reminder! Tomorrow morning, November 10th, the cub scouts will be out in force in our neighborhood collecting your donations and delivering them to the food bank to feed our neighbors who are in need.

Please place any bag(s) with your nonperishable items on your front porch tonight before bed in order to avoid a possible knock on your door in the morning! Some of the less timid scouts will gladly ring the bell if they see an empty porch and will ask for donations.

Thanks again for your generosity. And if you're out in your car in the morning, beware of lots of little boys on the streets and in the sidewalks doing their absolute best to contribute to their community! I'm so proud of these little guys. :)

Are the scouts still out collecting? I had my bag on the porch at 6am so want to make sure the scouts are still out and about.

The scouts are done and the truck is gone. I'm sorry for anyone that got missed. Not sure what happened. But they are done, so if anyone has food that the little boys missed, please feel free to donate to the box at Harris Teeter or any of the other collection sites in the area to help feed those in need.

To those who participated, THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS!!

A big thank you from Pack 1483 (Hillside). The Broadlands donated just over 7,000 pounds of food!

Some other packs may still be out collecting in Ashburn. I know 1483 is done, but there are many packs in Ashburn.

2013 Scouting for Food Update: Saturday, November 2nd, Cub Scouts will be out on your streets in the morning dropping off bags on your front porch (likely attaching them to your front doorknob). Then, the following Saturday, November 9th, they will be back to pick up your bags and will be delivering your donations. A few reminders:

-- No glass! Non-breakable, non-perishable items only please.

-- If you do not find that the scouts have delivered a bag, please use ANY bag. The scouts will pick up any and all bags of food left on your front porch on the 9th.

-- Please make sure that your donations are on your front porch by 8:00am on Saturday morning.

    Thank you!!

Here is an official link from the Boy Scouts that describes the program: http://www.ncacbsa.org/?SFF

Reminder: put those food bags out in the morning!

For any houses that didn't get bags last Saturday - sorry for that. We didn't get enough this year from the district coordinator. Please use any plastic bags you have, we'll also be bringing around what we have.

    Thanks!

It was a great day today, Pack 1483 (Hillside) collected 6,400 pounds of food! Over 3,300 of that went to the Backpack Buddies program.

A huge thank you to everyone of Broadlands for again being so supportive!
