Kennels at Stoneleigh is AWESOME! Candice, the owner (she refers to herself as "Gran") takes such great care of our little guy. If the parents are OK with it, she serves eggs and cottage cheese to the dogs every morning and plays classical music to keep them calm (it really IS quiet and calm in there). My dog gets so excited when he sees we are heading out there. They get to play a lot outside in the yard (no extra charge) and my baby always comes home smelling better than when we dropped him off!

Has anyone used Belmont Dog Country Club (http://www.belmontdogcountryclub.com/). Looks like they are in Ashburn, but the site has no info about where or pics of the facility.

I usually use Ivandale Farms, but they are closed during September - which is when I need to board 2 dogs.

Hate the cage environments, in-home care is not an option.

Any other recommendations are eagerly sought (I have Kennels at Stoneleigh, VIP Boarding on my shortlist). Just came back from a visit to Shadow's Retreat and struck that straight off my list, not a nice environment at all.

Click the link on the top of the page 'Boarding Services' for prices and services. May have to google them for the address or just give them a call.

    Hi Brit,

I completely understand your dilemma because I only use Julie at Ivandale Farms. She's definitely the best! I did speak with the owner of Belmont Dog Country Club one time when Julie was booked, and the woman told me that she does the boarding in her own townhome. She said she took in 5 dogs at a time, but since my guy is really large, I just didn't feel like it would work out. The only outdoor play (without paying extra) was in her backyard. I also called VIP which seemed okay, but never made it out to visit. Another new one in the area is Belly Rubs Pet Care. They have actual "foster" families that will have your dog(s) come stay with them while you are away. Again, I've never used anyone else, but these are some places I've heard decent things about. Here's the link to Belly Rubs: http://www.bellyrubspetcare.com/dog_boarding.htm.

    Good luck!

3Gypsies - thanks for the info, this is good to know. I am waiting to hear more from Belmont Country Dog Club - her phone lines are down. So I'll see how that goes, Bellyrubs looks like a good option too.

I use Woofies. They are wonderful! One of the owners, Amy, has worked closely with me and my new special needs Border Collie. You have the option of having your dog go to her house or one of her co-workers house OR letting him stay home and they will come visit. Can't go wrong with Woofies!! http://woofies.com/

Thanks, I have used Woofies for at-home visits, didn't know they offered the option of boarding with a sitter. I'll also give them a go. Thanks for all the feedback.

Stoneleigh it is - after a visit today we quickly decided it was a no brainer. Candace is lovely and knowledgeable, the dogs were calm, and the grounds are beautiful.

Top Dog Resort in Catlett...for 25 lbs and under. And Linda and Don know all about and recommend training/alternative wellness remedies. I recommend them wholeheartedly. Small breeds are their passion. They have several acres and dogs play in their house. They board well behaved healthy dogs only. They have cots, and if the younger dogs still need a crate at night that is available too. We have been taking our small breed there for almost a year. Many visits. Give them a Call, tour and interviews are required.
