  Fellow Beer Lovers and others--

In case you do not already know--Gaithersburg, MD has a Dogfish Head Alehouse Restaurant. The location is at 800 West Diamond Avenue and Phone Number is (301) 963-4847.

Hubby and I are going there tomorrow for dinner with friends in Gaithersburg. We will let you know what we thought of alehouse's menu and beers. Dogfish is one of our "faves" also. Has anyone been to the DFH Alehouse in Gaithersburg, MD yet? Any opinions--good or bad?

For you online and mail order "foodies/drinkers"--on the Dogfish Head's web site--it lists on the "Tangents" tab a link to where you can order Dogfish's beers and spirits online. Click on "Links" tab after "Tangents" to see web sites of beer/spirit purveyors. We have ordered organic wines and beers online; but cannot "vouch" yet regarding ordering from Dogfish's links.

I have not yet been to the Gaithersburg location, but I have been to the Brewery in deleware. The food is standard pub food, but the fresh beer makes it worth the while. And the gin aint bad either.

Like i stated earlier Dogfish is also looking to expand their alehouses. They are bulding one in Seven Corners with plans to build one to the west of that in 2008. who knows where it will go. But I hope it is close.

    brokenskull and others--

Well, the DFH Alehouse was "great". Beers, food, and conversation flowed--although I only had 1 beer--the 90 min IPA. Hubby had the 90 min IPA also. Our friends had Black and Tan and Alehouse 75 beers on tap. The food was good--better than the typical "pub" food. Pleasantly surprised with selections. We do not drink alot of beer--but Dogfish was good and flavorful.

Hubby had the Rustic Burger, friends had the Chesapeake Woodfired Pizza which had pesto and lump crab meat as toppings, and I opted for the Woodgrilled Chicken and Shrimp Club. I had to bring half of my sandwich home. Alot of food and great prices.

We went early and stayed for awhile. We missed hearing the live entertainment. Our friends said the groups usually are pretty good. Maybe next time. Kids at home with visiting grandparents from GA. Great babysitters comes in handy--our regular babysitters were out of town on vacation.

Highly recommend you try DFH Alehouse. Get there early if possible.

I think that the Alehouses do a more varied selection of foods than the actual brewery. So it was good to hear that the food was good.

And the beer. From an alchohol standpoint you actually had 2 beers. The 90 minute IPA is 9% abv whereas most beers are somewhere between 4 and 5% abv.

    Cheers.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, it was good--although food is subjective to everyone's individual tastes as well as beer and other drinks.

I agree that food tastes are subjective. The main brewery though just does pub food, which I like, but can get boring at times. And thier beer not only does it revolve around subjective tastes it does change from batch to batch. Beer is kinda like that though. No two brews will ever be the same, but it takes an educated palate to notice some of the subtle differences.

And I will still hold out hope that a dogfish head alehouse will open in our area(or close) some time soon. That way I can get kegs of DFH fresh from the alehouse and not have to pay a middle man.

I've been to DFH in Gaithersburg several times since it opened a couple of years ago. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who loves great beer. I try something different and wonderful every time I go. There limited releases are fantastic (although pricy). Pangaea is my favorite limited release. The only frustration is that they truly mean limited! Raison D'Etre is a year round beer (mahogany ale) which I highly recommend. Many of the year rounds are available at Wegmans, but nothings like going to the pub and having beer from the tap.

The food is above average, and I really like the atmosphere too. I hope they decide to open one up here… they’d make a killing.
