I live in the Southern Walk TH's and just found out that Verizon has not updated 911 with our phone numbers. When I called the dispatcher (on the non-emergency line) she informed me that she would call Verizon to get current info. I recommend everyone check out 911 and your address- enhanced 911 is like caller id kind of- your name adress and number pop up when you call, so if you can't speak or are disconnected they can find you.
    1.Call the non-emergency dispatch number 703-777-0637
2.Ask if the dispatcher is busy and that you would like to check your 911 address printout.
3.If they are not busy, they will instruct you to hang up and dial 911
4.The dispatcher will answer 911 with "Loudon County Emergency- Do you need police, fire or rescue?" Advise who you are, your telephone number and your address. They will confirm its validity. If incorrect, they will obtain the correct information.
5.If the dispatchers are busy, don't worry! Just call back in like 30 minutes.

Call! Lives could depend on it! My family is now in their system.

    Hi Sunny,

Is this an Open Band issue? In the same vein as why are we not listed with directory assistance? Hmmmm I wonder :(

That's a good question! Just spoke with James at Openband- he was surprised to hear that my number had not been updated to 911 and he would research it and get back to me. I'll keep you all posted.

Okay- James from Openband just called me back. He said that he submitted a trouble ticket to update my 911 and another ticket to update my 411. I asked if he did it only for me or for the whole neighborhood. He said he couldn't do it for everyone- just for me. I said that was not acceptable- I already updated the 911 myself -who was in charge of upday=ting phone numbers? He said that they should be updated at activiation. I asked is it a fluke that we are not updated to 911 and 411- he said probably. I said not good enough. If my neighbor has a fire and calls but can't speak- I have a firetoo! Plus I am concerned about the welfare of my neighbors, of course. So he spoke with the service manager and the service manager is going to run a list of numbers in our 'hood and ascertain whether or not we are all updated. That's all I got for ya.

SUNNY - That is downright a very nice thing you did. Thanks a heap!

Knowing OB, I think I will double-check to make sure.
