Wow, it is so hard to believe that a thread about all the crap we get stuck in our doors has turned into this...to me, boyscouts and girlscouts although technically soliciation have never stuffed crap into my door making me mad, to be honest, in the entire time I have lived in Ashburn I have only seen them at the supermarkets...this thread is about all the "we clean for you", or "eat here" or the famous "we will kill your bugs". That is solicitation, that is bad, it harms our weather strips and irritates us. The boyscouts if they do go door to door, don't leave a reminder if your not home.

What have they done so great? Besides exclude people based on their sexual preference while keeping rent-free offices in government buildings...

    ...and cookies.

The ignorance of this statement is astounding.

    Oh yah? How so?

It's a fact they don't allow homosexuals into their organization, which is fine if you're a private organization...but some of the local groups are receiving benefits from the government (funding and free office space in gvt. buildings). The gvt. isn't supposed to support any kind of discriminatory groups, right?

There's even a Supreme Court ruling stating they can bar homosexuals!

Regardless of whatever 'good' they might do, I wouldnl't want my kid participating in such an openly discriminatory organization.

On the whole, they can choose who they want to include or not, but is that really the right thing?

I would definitely support any bylaw that would prevent these flyers on my door!

I would support stopping the flood of unwanted flyers in my door. HOA rule against this might help. It could not hurt.

Brim, you haven't lived here in almost a year. Why do you even get involved in discussions like this one where there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO IMPACT on you?

Not to mention that most of your comments lately add no value...

And as a final note, do you realize that as of today, you are the most 'ignored' poster on this site, through the use of the forum software's 'ignore user' functionality? Does that tell you something?

Can we kick Brim out of the forums? Why does Brim still try to involve himself in Broadlands issues when he clearly is not a Broadlands resident. Also that picture of him makes him look like a child molester.

How about we kick you out instead. You've been trolling lately. And you actually sided with Brim on that issue. Not too mention your posts have been riddled with bad grammar and typos. I declare thee troll! Chris is that you? You're post lately and Scientology angle is your M.O.

Just out of curiousity, what are the other stats the forum software can tell?

    Where do I start:

Just because there is no impact on me doesn't mean I don't have some input or something to say. Whether or not it's contributory or of value is subjective. I find it disapointing that some residents there may look up to a group that fosters hate and discrimination. Even more disapointing is that nobody else has sided with me. :(

I really don't care that I'm the most ignored...I rarely have anything completely outlandish to say, merely facts. If people want to ignore facts, regardless of how they're presented, thats up to them.

    Swimfamily:
Who made you pope of this dump? How about every time you move houses or jobs, we don't let you converse with people that you conversed with prior to your move? Sound fair? Ad as far as the child molester implication, that borders on libel or slander...I'd rethink my tone if I were you.

You know why that picture looks creepy? IT'S BUFFALO BILL for christ sake, it's supposed to look creepy.

Excuse me? You consider this place/forum a dump?

Then, by all means, go away to some much cleaner, better place... I would rather volunteer my time running these forums with the Tech Committee for people who actually appreciate what we offer here, not for those who would rather call the output of our hard work a dump.

    'We have detailed files..'

    :D

The forum is based on a database.. of course we can run any type of query we want.. as well as the stats the package has built in. Information is power.

Calm down, I was kidding...have you never seen Caddyshack? Interestingly enough, you also followed the script. :)

Judge Smails: "You have worn out your welcome, sir!"

Czervik: 'Is that so? Who made you Pope of this dump?'

    Judge Smails: "Bushwood...a "dump"?"

Will everyone CHILL OUT!!! This discussion is about soliciting services door to door, not the Constitution nor whether someone should remove themselves from the Community Board.

Debate is good but when the discussion turns hateful it needs to stop!

The HOA is looking into this and I'll let you know the results. Questions I need answered are:
Can a community declare irself soliciatation free?
What are any rules/regulations required by the county/state to do so?
What types of solicitation is covered?
How is it enforced and what are our legal remedies to go after violaters?

If anyone out there wants to help in researching this stuff, please forward me your findings.

My favorite is the flyers stuck to the garage door handle so you never notice it while driving into your garage.
