we went recently and didn't find it to be that great either. it's almost double the price of 5 guys and i don't think it's worth it.

now the extra lean burgers we made the other night on multigrain buns, with sweet potato fries...awesome :)

You do realize that 5 guys does not include fries and a soda. Foster's includes fries and a soda on there meals. They also have a happy hour from 4-7 7days a week for discounted wings and cheaper beer with TV's.

True...I'm looking at the overall cost. My husband and I split the small fries at 5 Guys because that serving size is really enough for 4 people! And we usually have water. So for us it's almost half the cost :)

Flew home a little late last night and got to Fosters just AFTER 9:00 - -and they close at 9:00. The manager, very nice guy with actual customer service skills (shocking around here) - said no sweat. We had a great meal and a fantastic Dominion Beer - - it is like 5 guys with beer. Thought the meal tasted better than 5 guys to be honest - burger was less greasy as were the fries. And great customer service - we will be back.

Actually the kids version is big enough for us when we go there, and I am a pretty big guy especially around the waist line these days ha ha ha. Lot cheaper too.

Really? The kid’s cheeseburger wasn’t big enough for my 10 year old!

I wasn’t that impressed with the place. The booths were really uncomfortable and gave my daughter a splinter. I didn’t think the food was that great and a big draft blew in whenever anyone came in the door.

I do like the fact that they have beer, but it gets very annoying if you want to get more than one. You have to check with the casheer to see if it's OK first to open a tab, then they'll ask you to close it when it gets busy because it "slows down the system" seriously! try it!

Then my girlfriend and I ordered three hotdogs and two beers. Total cost $30 and change.

In their defense.. Hot dogs had Chili and Cheese so did the fries that the dogs came with. And the beers were imports (Foster's) a 12.OZ during Happy Hour.

In my defense.. Three Hot Dogs and Two Beers.. = $30.00??

I think people overhype this place. The food is mediocre at best - the burgers are scorched like hockeypucks and taste like the cheapest, fattiest meat possible to buy, the wings are more skin and fat than meat, and the prices are way too high for the quality of food. Not to mention the ridiculous ordering process...it feels like the federal government runs the operations. If you want three burgers, you need to fill out three different forms. If you sit at the bar and want to order another beer, you need to do more paperwork. I get enough of that at the office.

It's good for the family - my wife n' kid like the fries, shakes, and grilled cheese. I really think the concept is great - it's a lot easier to dine-in at Fosters than at 5-guys and I can knock back a beer while my kid runs amok. I wish they'd fix the food quality and the ordering process. We'd go there more often.

Couldn't agree more with you on Foster's Grille need to improve the order process and service. After waiting over 1/2 hrs during non-busy hours for my hamburger and fries, I made it a carry-out instead, so it is hard for me to tell if they are that great or not. However, the manager is really nice, he gave us a free meal ticket for next time. I will wait until I see other posts saying the service is better before coming back again.

have to give my praise to Foster's- i had a quiet meal there last night and it was SO good. ask for your burger medium well and you'll enjoy it even more! cold beer, fresh fries, juicy burger- it was worth every cheating-on-my-diet this weekend bite!

since the place was empty i can't objectively critique the service- of course it was fast and very personal. but burger lovers can't deny the quality of their meat- it's definitely 4 out of 5 stars for its class.

My Husband and I tried Foster's last week and I liked it! We were there on a Sunday during happy hour ( yes they do happy hour on Sunday) and I had the wings for .40 each and the 1.75 beer ( or maybe it was 1.50). My husband tried the chicken sandwich and loved it! We will be going back- especially during happy hour!!

We've also been frequenting Foster's in the last couple of months. I love their fries, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. However one thing I have noticed recently, and I hope its not a trend!?? Last week, every one of our sandwiches (3 of us) had the butt end of the tomato - 2 slices per sandwich, both of them were butt ends in each sandwich. I called the manager over and he immediately brought us fresh tomato slices (no ends).

So yesterday I went over there by myself for lunch, sat at the bar, and had a hamburger. I was probably the first customer of the day as it was about 11:15am and I was the only customer. Guess what - butt end tomato slices on my hamburger. I didn't mention it this time - but I'm wondering was this coincidence, or is Foster's getting some deal on the ends of the tomatoes??

Or is it just me - does anyone else care if they get a full tomato slice or just the end pieces???

If you want tomatoes or any other veggies, order a salad. Keep the hamburger naked! ( just kidding)

Well let me just say i work at a fosters in VA, and i have fun its a great place to work, managers are cool, coworkers can be friendly. let me say some of the things that were being talked about, first i do think it is bull that if you want a burger no fries, no drink you still get charged $8, so does my manager, second happy hour is only for in house, if you want wings to go, and you are there during happy hour, they charge you regular price, i suggest getting wings for there, then asking for a to go box!:pofl: also, everything is made there, the fries, the tomatoes, the pickles, the onions, not grown but it is cut right in the kitchen so if you get the end of a tomatoe that is because a cook didnt throw the end away. i have had to cut fries before, its not that fun. Dont get cheez on the fries it is an extra 75 cents, just when you get ur food ask for a side of cheez. Also the side salad, thats the rule, but if you come in and get a side salad, when im running the register i just charge you 95 cents for the sub salad, same thing, just cheaper. Most people wont due it but i do, and if you want a cup for water just ask, i give people extra cups for soda all the time.

Can we all agree that everyone has different tastes, therefore some may like certain places better then others?

I saw something about a hamburger festival in Ohio on the Food Network last week and thought of this thread. That would be so cool here in Ashburn!

Any event that offers "Bobbing for Burgers" can't be too bad!

I went to Foster's last night and I have to say that the guy who took my order (I think he was the manager) was a cranky, generally unfriendly fellow. I walked up to the counter and got no greeting and started to give him my order at which point he said "Have you been here before?" I said yes. He shoves the paper order pad at me and says "this is how we tell if you've never been here before." I say "Well, whenever I've been here before the people who've helped me told me not to bother filling it out, even once I'm half way through it" (especially when there is no one else on line) and he says "Well I guess I'm the mean one" and shoves me a pencil. Yeesh. Excuse me for living Mr. Burgermeister.

I got the turkey sandwich and it was SOOOOO good. T8ertot got a dog and it was massive. Fries were good, but they're a close second to the fries at 5 Guys IMO.

Nasty Burgermeister won't keep me from coming back. But, I tell you I watched him many times last night and he sure seemed unhappy/miserable/cranky/P.O.'d. Spread the joy, my friend, not the misery.
