I agree with Pats fan.... but I think a traffic circle around here would just end up with a pile of mini-vans in the middle 8)

You guys are ready from the old rule books. Always yield to the person on the cell phone. They like to take the opportunity of being "stopped" to dial up their next call, forcing everyone else at the intersection to wait for them. They will then blast off into the intersection when the call goes through.
OH WHERE, OH WHERE IS A LAW TO BAN CELL PHONE CALLS WHILE DRIVING!!!!
Whew!! Excuse the rant. I feel better now.

AMEN !!! However, I don't think you'll see a law to ban them during driving around here, however a law like DC's where you have to use a hands free setup would help.

Thats exactly as I recall it too. Ive been living and driving in Virginia for over 21 years and Ive yet to hear / see differently. That method has always worked. Its the impatient drivers or ones that try to piggyback that cause problems, because then people lose track of "well, who's next now?" Someone just went who was out of turn, now the person that arrived after that person thinks he can go, but so does the one who is supposed to go, now the confusion. All this happens in seconds, then you got that a$$ who isnt either of the two drivers that are confused who wants to take things into his own hands and decides to go, now the problem is 3 fold. I see this trash all the time. The ones making right hand turns (if they even freakin' stop at the stop sign to begin with) cause most of these problems because they just disregard whos turn it is anyways.
I mean, it works like that in any other queue/line that anyone comes across first come first serve and to me its common sense. Its not rocket science, but people just think that they dont have to stop or yield because of whatever reason. Usually, they thing the law just doesnt apply to them. Well, the law isnt out there so we can write up tickets all the time....LOL. Its there to provide structure to society, without it you have nothing but chaos - which is what I see at these 4 way stop signs. People think they're special and shouldnt have to wait. That goes for all of you speeders and tailgaters too!! Think about what your doing, think about your drivers education. If you cant remember, go back and take the class. For every 10mph in speed, you should be 1 car length back from the car in front of you. Oh, thats right your afraid someone will use their turn signal to get in front of you ......well, we cant have that because its a RACE to get to work isnt it! We cant have him getting there before me, can we.
I never speed, I never tailgate and I always stop at stop signs and redlights. I try and set the example, and it just makes me mad when I see such ignorant and selfish drivers around here. And this is what causes road rage. If the penalties for breaking the law were more severe (again, this isnt rocket science) people wouldnt break the law, or at least a lot fewer people would. If the penalty for speeding was $50 / 1 mph over the speed limit with points and hike in insurace, your darn right people would slow down. Most the people I see speeding are 10-20 mph over it easily, yet we dont feel the need to enforce the law, and that is why I have road rage, because eventhough someone else is breaking the law, causing me stress and headache by cutting me off, tailgating me, running a stop/red light and almost hitting me, there is absolutely "0" penalty for their actions.
My wife was in 2 accidents last year within 6 months (neither were her fault) and all the people got were tickets. Their insurance covers repairs and medical bills and they get a "slight" increase in rates. Yet I lost over $9k in values of my vehicles because of the damage to them (yes they were repaired, but to resell them I lost this much money on both cars combined. Total repair costs on both cars was $17k, both were in the 60% range of being totalled.). The courts protect insurance companies concerning the decrease in value in vehicles so that the companies dont ahve to pay for the depreciation, so Im stuck paying for it because someone wanted to run a red light and tailgate. Absolutely no sense of responsibility and it makes me irrate.

sorry to rant, im done. Its just ive been personally affected by horrible drivers aroudn here and im not happy. Yet I obey the laws, so I get to pay for the morons inept ability to drive/ obey the laws.......gotta love it.

It's Darwinism at its best. Those who can't/won't obey the rules will eventually be weeded out. Seems the ones who drive with a cellphone in their ear are the ones most at risk of being cast aside first....Then, hopefully, the ones who drive as if they are the most important people on the road.

True, dont forget the ones who watch dvd movies while driving too. That case in Alaska, if I recall. He got away with killing 2 people in a headon accident. He was driving a truck which he had configured to hold a dvd player and some gaming console in the front seat so he could do either while driving. He got off because there was no law in alaska against having a dvd player playing in the front of a vehicle......what a way to protect the innocent people via the judicial system. He got off on a technicality, and claimed he wasnt watching and he was actually reaching for a coke.

I read about that too. Apparently reaching for a soda and killing someone is ok now, you just cant watch movies while driving I guess.
