Recently, we have had a couple patches of some kind of strange fungus popping up in the multh. The fungus looks almost like sprayed foam. Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

We had the same sort of thing. My husband researched it and said it was common and harmless to the plants and flowers we have in the mulch. Hope that helps!

I had the same thing, and I thought it was from the milky spore application a few weeks ago, that maybe didn't get watered in all the way. Guess not?

I'm guessing it's Fuligo septica, AKA "dog vomit slime mold". Typically occurs in mulch after rain.

This is the most fascinating slime mold! I hadn't read this thread yesterday and I told my hubby that the neighborhood cat musta puked on our mulch. He told me it was "dog vomit slime mold" which of course I thought he was trying to pull my leg. :) Later when we were walking our dog we spotted some more of it in a more transit state. This stuff is so digusting looking, but way cool!
