So .. is anyone going to comment on the new HD offerings in Southern Walk (via Openband). I for one, couldn't be happier. Granted I haven't had a lot of time to evaluate the image for compression artifacts and other issues, but having all televisiion on one interface is a big deal for me. No antennas, seperate tuners, seperate inputs, etc... I've been living w/ a hodge/podge of systems since early 2000.

The new guide is nice (very common), but I think I still prefer the Tivo guide. I'm torn on this b/c the new guide has the thumbnail in the upper right which is very nice, but Tivo handles the channel data better. However, the interface seems fast.

Has anyone used the DVR yet? I have a DVR, but only installed one of my 3250's last night (HD .. 1st priority). The HD DVR is coming soon, further integrating everything.

    What's your take?

I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Question for you (or anyone who knows): has anyone hooked these new boxes up to Tivo yet? Do we still need to use the IR "feelers" to allow Tivo to change the channels on the new box, or can we directly connect the Tivo and box controls with a cable?

If we need to use the "feelers," does anyone know what code we should use? I had a heck of a time figuring it out for the old boxes.

I'm also curious about any TiVo issues, as I needed a TiVo user support site to tell me our Motorola boxes responded to General Instruments codes. I'm getting my new OpenBand boxes tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out about problems soon enough!

I got through the Tivo IR issues w/ a quick call to Tivo Customer Support. They were very helpful. I don't think many cable boxes support the wired connection, so you may have to use the IR emitters again. The SA boxes they are using now are VERY common and it should be very obvious which ones to use. Issues? try http://www.tivocommunity.com/

I just hooked up my box, and code 0049-fast worked great for me. I have the standard box (no HD/no DVR).

For those with Replay TV there are no issues using the new boxes. I have seen many posts in the replay forums about not working with these receivers but they seem to not be true. Plugged it in, put in the IR code, and everything just worked.

Same TiVO success here with the upgraded OpenBand receiver. Standard SA box and TiVO code 0049-Fast works great!
