I have a question/statement about the lights and signs which are hung on the fence entering our neighborhood at Ellzey. I have had guests make comments about it looking trashy. Nothing against the terps... honestly. I am just not sure why this is allowed on common areas. We have such a lovely neighborhood - I'd just like to keep it that way. Am I missing something? Thanks...

I'm sorry your friends think you live in a trashy neighborhood. I'm even sorrier have friends who would even comment on such a trivial matter.

+1. What kind of friend would say you lived in a "trashy neighborhood?"

Geezy.... Who said it was a trashy neighborhood? Actually, they love the neighborhood and think it is very nice - they commented that the signs and lights didn't fit. My question was if this was permitted in a common area.

Why do you assume it is allowed?
Forward any complaints to the HOA Office and they can look into it.

The issue is being addressed. FYI the fence is on private property, although it was originally erected by the developer; that was Terrabrooke at the time.

Thank you vacliff and mamatothree. I appreciate your responses.
I was really just asking a question - I thought it was prohibited to hang signs, etc. and wondered if I was wrong, since these signs and light board have been up for quite some time. I didn't intend to offend anyone. I absolutely love The Broadlands!!! I think the "powers that be" do a great job of keeping it nice. I am very proud of our community... just asking...

I like the sign on that fence. It's actually known to our family as a welcoming sign in B-lands. Right or wrong, the sign does no harm to anyone. It's fun to see it. (but I know I'll get bashed for supporting something so "trashy") :)

Allow one sign and then there are 2, 3... before you know it, one or more on every street. Then they become bright neon shining in your window at night...

    Just saying.

Exactly - it makes us smile. I knew you would bash at me T8, but I still got love for you! I totally understand your reasoning too...really. I just like the sign because it's fun.

I am not bashing you at all. I think the holiday related signs are a nice touch myself. But I also do not think it should be used as some personal "sign board" every day of the year.

And if you DO allow it, what do you do when/if the "fun" signs go away? Come on, as a community, do we really need to know that the owner is a UM alum?

Right, what's fair is fair - there should be no exception or subjection to the rule. How many times have owners been asked to remove their "Beware of Dog" sign or to take down their holiday lights?

Actually, I can't believe this is something that's even being discussed. I'm guilty as well. Don't we all have better things to do like save the world? :)

I leave saving the world up to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Super Friends who make up the Justice League of America. I like to stick with issues closer to home

I've never noticed this sign, but I feel like I need to go for a walk now and see what all the fuss is about!
