I was alerted to this today from my child's soccer team but it seems to me that if this passes it would close our neighborhood pools on Sundays as well as after 6pm every day.

    enter HB1368 for bill#.

    Any comments?

That is ridiculous! What a sad state of affairs when a legislator would submit a bill that essentially limits the ability of our state's children to go outside and play! :(

Granted it won't pass, but it would be a shame if it got to the floor. What a waste of time.

Why would a Rep even waste their time bringing this bill to the floor?

I can't imagine that the "I live close to a community pool and can't stand the noise" lobby is that powerful...

Please don't tell me this is an attempt to legislate Sunday as "God's Day"

Robert Hull must have always been picked last as a child for any athletic team event.

    :)

Maybe his house is "nestled" between his community's ball fields and swimming pool.

The guys from Falls Church, something tells me that one or more of his constituents with some juice (read $$$$$) asked for the bill due to the loud yells and cheers coming from the baseball field just on the other side of the road.

I attended an HOA seminar a few days ago and this subject was brought up. The group of HOA managers/lawyers that were giving the presentation felt there was very little chance this would pass.

humm, 65 feet... that's pretty close.... even if it passed it wouldn't affect but a very small percentage of fields I would imagine...

Actually the language in the bill says 65 yards not feet. (the news article had it wrong)

    from the bill...
"Affected homeowner" means any person owning or leasing a home that is located within 65 yards of any athletic field.

So it seems to me, this could mean more than just the first row of houses next to a field/pool in developments such as ours.

I wonder if this would have included golf courses as "athletic fields". If so, there are many courses that have homes easily within 65 yards of any particular hole.
