Southern Walk People.... we filed a claim from the Hardie Plank website and got our exterior painted for free..... a few of our neighbors have recently submitted claims and they are receiving checks from Hardie to be used to have their siding painted. It seems there was a defect in the materials.... I have contacted Kris of Kris' Painting Service and he is willing to work with our neighborhood with regards to painting and working within our budgets. Here is the link to the Hardie website to submit. It takes no time to fill out, snap a few pictures and they will come out and assess your siding...

The color was fading unevenly and bleeding into the trim.. they have a scanner that they put up on the house and it measures the pigments and ours was not reading the appropriate levels... the exterior looked splotchy....

Curious............ is it because of the paint applied in the factory or the horrible job that VM did covering the nail/screw holes? Are there any areas where the problems were more prevelent than others or was it all the siding?

I started this about 2 years ago, but never sent it thinking it was futile. But maybe with others doing this, it'll be more successful. Our siding looks pretty bad!

Just curious... Is this more prevalent in certain sections of Broadlands than others? In other words, as there were several builders in Broadlands, does this apply to all the builder homes or only VM built homes?

OOps... scratch that - didnt pay attention the first time around. It does say Southern Walk! Need more coffee to get over EDT lag!!

Yea it is a good question... I know two homes on our street have been painted (not under a warranty deal) and looked bad, but other homes on our block look fine (all built around the same time (early to late 2005).

VM gave me some touch-up paint too, so they were the ones painting it at the time and I think it was a custom color.
