Has anyone used Joy Salon for haircuts? I have seen comments on their other services, but I am in need of a new stylist.

I just had my first cut and color there with Kim and was very happy. I plan to go back soon.

I highly recommend the Joy Salon. I have had 2 haircuts there -- one with Paul and one with Martha. I loved both cuts. My scheduling was the only reason that I have seen 2 different stylists. I'm about to go back for a 3rd time.

In the Harris Teeter shopping center.

BTW--they have THE best spa pedicure around, too!

You are sooo funny! No I don't - I have very thick, curly hair and I wouldn't dream of cutting it myself! When I was little, I hated my curls, I SO wanted poker straight hair and I cut my curly bangs off....then I had bristles! My mom was ready to kill me!! Haven't touched my hair since. LOL

So Tiger you have Rainbow hair now? Tee hee. I like curly hair...i have mixed curls myself. people don't know how to cut that hair. But of course I have Ouidad products to manage it. I hate it when people try to blow it out. Dang that hurts so much - but it amazes me how it looks longer, for sure:)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kim! She is excellent! I have used her for 2 years, and I am always happy with my cut/color. Joy Salon is great overall - finally broke down and used their Pedicure service. I had Mimi, and couldn't be happier!!

I'm too cheap to pay $50 for a haircut. Am I being unreasonable? It seems like most places charge about that much. I'd rather pay about $30. Does a $50 haircut look better than a $30 one?

I have been thinking about doing the coloring/highlights thing but the cost and maintenance is frightening!

I'm with you - that's why I go about two months or longer between haircuts! It's too expensive and then when I have highlights/coloring....REALLY expensive.

I usually go to Fantastic Sams but sometimes I wonder if it LOOKS like I go there. :p

Would a fancier place make me look better somehow?

That is a dangerious straight line to give people on THIS forum :pofl:

Fortunatly, I don't have the problem of wondering if I look good. I go to the barber next to the Safeway. $14.00 and I am whining about that.

That's my problem...I can't go to places like Hair Cuttery or Fantastic Sams.....I've got thick, curly hair and I need someone who is really advanced and knows how to work with my kind of hair. I have no choice - but that's why I really stretch out the appts. I'm over due now...it's been almost three months...... :-(
