We attended the Lovettsville Independence Day celebration last year. It is a small-town event with nice fireworks and not overwhelmingly crowded. Also, it's July 3, so no worries about getting up for work the next day (if you worry about that).

I always liked the ones at the intersection of Milford Drive and Windover Drive (in the Courtyards at Southern Walk).

I think the homeowners who put that show on have moved, though, so I don't know if they happen any more.

Uh oh ... supporting violation of the law !! :nono:

heheheheh ... FWIW ... I used to sit out on my front stoop with my garden hose ready, as a few of those cute rockets used to head toward my house. The house got hit one year !!

Despite it being illegal, there seem to be several homes that are putting everyone in danger by displaying fireworks on the streets of Broadlands. Crazy people just asking for trouble...

Maybe you missed it when this happens pretty much EVERYWHERE (even where fireworks are all illegal). I mean.. what's your point? Fireworks are illegal and people still use them. Not earthshattering news there.

They're better off being lit in the middle of the street than in dry grass during a drought seasons as I've seen (with bad results too!) in CA. It is a slight inconvenience to get around some of the celebrations, but what we're celebrating is pretty important and I think I can afford a little inconvienence considering what my alternatives could be.

This is a duplicate thread but I have to agree with Shop - the fireworks in the middle of the street are dangerous. I've seen a house catch on fire from bottle rockets and there were quite a few of those being used for the 4 day weekend. We almost got hit with one when driving down the street last night to go to the Leesburg display. We had the top off of the Jeep and one flew right over our head. What would have happened if it had hit one of us or flow into the Jeep and caught something on fire?
So it's a "slight inconvenience to get around some of the celebrations, but what we're celebrating is pretty important and I think I can afford a little inconvenience considering what my alternatives could be" until it happens to you. Would you think it is an inconvenience when your house burns down?? If you want fireworks, go to one of the planned shows. There are plenty of them around here, and much less inconvient than having to deal with a burnt down house or one of your loved ones dying in that fire.

I was at the planned show at Ida Lee. Despite the restrictions, there will still people that snuck things into the park and there were young children running around the crowd near us with sparklers and other things that could burn and harm. As safe as they try to make things, unfortunately there will always be those that try to push things or think that the rules don't apply to them.

When I was small I ran around with sparklers and am still here today. I think that is more of a parental issue. A sparkler? Come on. Peanut butter can be a choke hazard as well...
