Loudoun Flavor - a virtual farmer's market

I came across this the other day and just placed my first order (to be picked up this Friday) so I thought I would share info about this new service - a virtual farmer's market for Loudoun County! The website is www.loudounflavor.com. You can order online from local farmers between Mondays at 1:00pm and Wednesdays 6:00 pm. Choose your pickup location and your food will be available on Friday! I set my pick up location to Mom's Apple Pie. I e-mailed them with a few questions regarding their grass fed beef because the cuts seemed limited and they said they are expanding, adding more suppliers, and variety, even a chocolatier. I hope this service can stay alive because it's a great opportunity and such a convenience. Also, I received an e-mail that they are currently waiving their $25/year membership so there is no cost. I hope we can all support you local farmers.

I just went to their website (which is kind of slow), but for some reason none of their products are appearing as available. Not sure why, but they must be having some issues so you might want to try back later.

 

It's like most of the big database driven sites. You simply have to create an account (top of the page). An email will be sent with a password and then when you log in, all the buy links are available monday thru Wednesday. Other days are reserved for farmers/artists to upload their offerings and for deliveries to drop off points like my favorite , Hunters Run wine tasting barn.
I find the food excellent and it feels good to support several local farms/artists all within the same shopping experience.

I think it's a great concept.
