A few weeks ago, my wife and I were planning to go see a movie (Guardians Of the Galaxy 3) and have dinner at Loudoun Station. However, parking is free for only three hours in the lots and if you stay longer than that, you have to pay $6 at the garage. So we went elsewhere for dinner and just saw the movie there. However, the movie is 2 1/2 hours long and throw in 30 minutes for coming attractions and various ads, and the time to get seated etc. and we were already over three hours. Luckily we didn't get booted as threatened on their signs. Needless to say, from now on we are taking our business to One Loudoun or Brambleton where parking is free.

Now understand they don't want folks parking there and commuting to work and using all the spaces, but that would be easily solved by having free parking after 6pm. The current business model does not bode well for the movie theatre or the restaurants there.

Agreed- I was planning to eat at a restaurant and go to a movie there and saw that garage on a weekend was charging a fee- I decided to take my business over to Loudoun One instead and was able to go to a restaurant afterwards as well-

Not going to throw extra money away on a parking garage or lot when I am using money on food and movies- why pay more when I can go to Loudoun 1 or Brambleton?

You are right - it’s going to discourage people from frequenting the restaurants and the area - I go to Reston Town Center on weekends as I don’t have to worry about parking fees and can stay as long as I can-

I don't know, last time I went to Reston I had to pay for parking in one of the garages, and to add insult to injury I had to download an app. I think this is the way these leasing companies are heading. Free Parking will be a thing of the past.

If my recollection is correct, they tried to charge for parking all day 7 days a week but that severely affected the stores and restaurants. Lost a lot of business. Believe they still charge during the day, but parking is free at night or on weekends. That certainly makes more sense than the Loudoun Station way.

During the week when I'm there primarily it's a couple of dollars an hour. The only free days are the holidays listed and the weekends and evenings.
