Those who have expressed an opinion regarding my cat will, no doubt, be relieved to know that he will be moving to my mother's house in Lynchburg this weekend.

Deus - I hope this was a personal decision made from personal/family reasons. Conversely if your decision is the by-product of the "gang" like mentality of some people on this forum, their actions/post regarding your cat is unacceptable. I wish you and your cat well.

The decision was made for both reasons.

On the one hand, it has weighed on my mind for some time that Mojave may meet the same end as his brother, though he is far less impulsive and more careful than his brother ever was. In Lynchburg he will have several acres of woodland to tromp around in, and only one residential street to watch out for. It is also not lost on me that he has been instigating other cats -- I was particularly surprised that he has climbed onto people's decks when he could no longer see through the first-floor windows.

On the other hand, the fervor with which some people have expressed their dislike for my cat has definitely put me on edge. That, combined with him actually being trapped and taken to the pound at one point, and finding out that someone else's cat was shot at (regardless of whether the shooter knew it was a cat or not), puts me in a position where I simply don't trust "you people" to leave my cat alone anymore. I've met a few people who've encountered my cat and they seem nice enough, but I don't know everyone my cat crosses paths with and I no longer feel comfortable assuming nobody will do anything to him -- especially considering the way some people got angry when they found out he wasn't stray and that I was willfully letting my cat wander around and invade their little slices of heaven.

In any event, it is what it is. He leaves this weekend, so please don't do anything stupid in the meantime.

While I am not the one who trapped Mojave I will admit to having called animal control on him and was on the verge of using their traps to capture Mojave myself. How was I to know he was not a stray? He was skinny, seemingly constantly around my house/area, without collar, and most importantly routinely starting window fights with my cat combined with coming into my garage. It was also on a regular basis I'd hear cats/something fighting in the woods with Mojave seeming to always be a part of it as I'd see him eventually fleeing from the area. If I would have experienced one more 2:30am window fight waking the entire household, I likely would have made the effort. Can you honestly say that wouldn't be the right thing to do and likely the best for Mojave? What if Mojave were truly lost and and you were reunited with him only because someone brought him to the shelter? Would that act still have bothered you or would it have been perceived as a nice rescue from a good samaritan?

    Hey all,

Regardless of the thoughts on both sides, for better or worse this situation has a resolution. Is it really necessary to beat each other up back and forth trying to hammer one opinion over the next or don't you think that at this point all should agree to disagree and let it go?

You do both of us a disservice by taking that one sentence out of context, Geaux.

Best wishes to Mojave. I believe the majority of us meant him no ill will. We're just concerned for his welfare.
