We would like to relocate our internet connection to another room. We have service through Comcast, using a high speed internet cable connection. Comcast informed us that they don't move them.
Does anyone know of anyone who does?
    Thanks in advance.

Try wireless, it will be easier than trying to run the wires through the walls/floors to get where you want to go.

    OR

If your house was pre-wired for cable, you may be able to run the wire using what is already installed to get it to where you want it.

There are many ways to accomplish this.

    1) Use a wireless router

    or

    2) Reconnect your cable box to any other working outlet in your house

Let me know if this is not what you're trying to do and provide more details of your situation, and I'd be glad to try and help you out further.

We have wireless, but husband needs the main connection directly wired for speed for our storage/back-up devices---or something like that. Our house is one of the older ones in Broadlands, so I guess not prewired for internet. We have cable jacks in many rooms but not the one we need it to be in.

If you don't have a cable outlet in the room you want your hard-wired computer, you have no choice but to call Comcast and ask them to install a new jack. There will be a charge for this, but shouldn't be too much.

Not yet, a little more info please.

    1. Is the current location in the basement, Main, Upstairs?
    2. Is there access from above (Attic) to the room you need wired?
    3. Is there access from below (Basement) to the room you need wired?
    4. Also, depending on how the wires were run thru your house there may be connections on the outside of your house that run to rooms close by and you can run the wire thru the wall to the room you need.

    1. Main level
    2. No
    3. Yes
    4. Connection on outside of house but on complete opposite side, but it already comes into the house thru basement.

We know it can be done thru the basement. We have the access. We just need someone to do it. Comcast says they do not do this.

Yes, this will accomplish the same thing...getting a jack into a new room, but if you're like me, you won't be punching holes in your ceiling or walls either...rather let the professionals handle that.

Is the husband handy? you could go to Home Depot and get a "Old Work Box" and cut the hole in the wall. There are longer drill bits, some even flexible that you would drill into the "wall" (angled down) this would open up a hole in the basement and you could get a "barrell connector and connect the exisiting wire to one that is long enough to reach the new location. HD, best buy, circuit city etc sells the cable needed with the connectors already installed and the whole install could be done in a couple of hours.

Yes, the husband is handy. Sadly, he lacks the patience and motivation to do such a project on his own and would like to pay someone else to do it.
