Well I'm sad to write this but my sweet little dog Gizmo is looking for a new home. One without (small) kids or other pets. He's 9 years old, in perfect health according to the vet last week, and he is miserable in our house. He's a shih-tzu/pomeranian mix. He weighs 9 lb and doesn't shed (great breed for those with allergies). He is very much a lap dog, but since we've added 2 kids to our family he just never really adjusted. He spends 23.5 hours a day napping. If you or someone you know is looking to adopt a dog, please PM me. I'm heartbroken, but I really need to find him somewhere else to live.

He's adorable. What's his temperament like if he cannot be around children or other pets? Is he shy, scared, or nippy...

He's very friendly and snuggly actually. Not shy at all. The problem is, he naps in the middle of all the action around here and my kids keep waking him up and he keeps snapping at them. And it's becoming more frequent. He's never actually broken skin, but the kids aren't heeding his warnings. If my boys were older and could understand to just leave the dog alone when he's sleeping, it would be fine, but they're 2 and 4 and they just want to smother him with love.

And he loves to chase cats. Terrorizes them. I'm sure eventually it would work itself out with another pet, but *ideally* he would find a childless, petless couple that works from home and has a lap for him all the time ;)
