Hi, my new husband and I have lived in Ashburn for 7 months and love it! Here are my favorite restaurants so far:

-Banjara (Indian) in Ashburn. Delicious Dal Makhani! I tried Aasha's also, and was excited about the idea of a dinner buffet, but unfortunately my husband and I didn't care for Aasha's food. Go to restaurant.com. to buy a coupon for Banjara!

-Cafe Rice and Kabob (Afghan) in Sterling. Great prices ... for example, 3 vegetarian dishes, rice, bread, and salad for $8.25.

-Mediterranean Breeze's pizza in Ashburn is the most delicious we've had; San Francisco Oven's is pretty good as well. We plan to try Fireworks in Leesburg next, and also try Al Forno's pasta.

-Moby ****'s (Middle-Eastern) in Ashburn. The food always tastes very fresh and homemade. Mezze Grill ... not so much.

-Pacific (Asian) in Sterling seems to offer higher quality food and great variety in an attractive setting. Cafe Opera's food was good, but the portions were way too small and the service was poor.

Regarding Non-Loudoun restaurants that are worth traveling for, I can recommend Lost Dog Sandwiches and Pizza :naanaa: in Falls Church. Great taste, huge menu, good prices, and a funky atmosphere, all in a bustling neighborhood joint.

Taqueria El-Poblano (South American) in Falls Church is interestingly decorated and has yummy fresh salsa. Tijuana Flats in Ashburn is decent if you want fast Meixican. We want to try El Mariachi at Lansdowne next. Del Rey in Ashburn was terrible and such a disappointment to us, as we love Mexican and live very close to it.

Moorenkos' Homemade Ice Cream in McLean offers fresh, homemade, all natural ice cream in unique flavors. I'm looking forward to trying Hawaiian Scoop as well!

Ditto on Lost Dogs. Food is good. Beer selection is okay. Like the Thai place next door.

I think Emilio's is my favorite for this area. Even Clydes messes it up with the calamari.

    Cafe Opera-for sit down.

    China Taste-for carryout.

    Moby Dicks-great Gyros.

    Tokyo Sushi-good quality.

Saigan Star-great soups, great price, great service.

Not Your Average Joes-only been twice, very pleased both times.

Tijuana Flats-never had a bad meal there.

I have started frequenting counter-service restaurants. They tend to be less expensive and there are no possible server issues. That's why I am such a fan of Tijuana Flats and Moby Dicks.
