Need to Recover Picture files that were deleted!!

Any idea of how to find picture files from my HP after a system recovery? I accidentally deleted all our family pics and my wife is not too happy!! Is there software or anything I can buy to retrieve the files? Any ideas are appreciated!!

When you say HP system recovery does that mean you formatted the HD?
or like a system recovery from a certain point?

I've even had good luck using the free version with my flash cards, if you purchase the full version currently on sale for $20, I think you get more features such as recovering from Local Hard Disks.
