Oct. programs

    October Programs

    Signs of Fall
    Date: Oct.2
    Time: 10-11:00am
    Age level: 3&4 year olds
    Parents are encouraged to attend

    Fall is here. Find out why leaves are changing color. Come and
    celebrate by taking a color walk. Play a game with colored leaves
    called Red Rover. Make a dried leaf picture.

    Spiders are Superb!
    Date:Oct.10
    Time:3-4pm
    Age level: 4 -6 year olds

    What would we do without them? What are the parts of a spider? Come
    and look for spiders and discover their beautiful orb,triangle or
    funnel webs. Make a spider out of recycled objects.

    The Shapes of Fall
    Date:Oct.16
    Time: 10-11AM
    Age level: 4&5 year olds

    Finding shapes in nature is easier than you think..Play "I Spy" and
    discover circles, squares and triangles on our walk. Sing a song
    about leaf shapes. Play a leaf matching game.

    Animals in disguise
    Date:: Oct. 24th
    Time: 4-5pM
    Age level: 6-9 year olds

    What is disruptive coloration? Take a hike and find examples of
    camouflage . Play" The Camouflage Critter" game.Visit a few of the
    animals at the nature center and find out how they protect
    themselves in the wild. Make a mini camouflage blind to use in your
    own back yard.

    Evening programs

    Date:Oct 24th
    Time 7-8:00 PM
    Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather

    Creepers, Crawlers and Flexible Flyers
    Come to the nature center and go on a spider and creepy crawly
    hunt. .Play the games Bat and Moth and play catch with a bat. Make
    a bat wing kite out of a garbage bag.

    Spiders are Superb sounds great, but the age starts at 4... Can I possibly try and bring my 3.5 year old and see how it goes? He loves spiders and has taken a real interest in bugs generally (of course). Thanks
