Video Cameras always seem to embarass people. Maybe we should start walking around with video cameras and take video of these people. We could start a show like Cops. We could call it poop patrol and put it on Channel 16. Just a thought.:D

I had a car approaching from behind so I couldn't stop to roll down the window. I gave her this face though

I'm pretty sure you and A4guy would live in a Sanitarium if you had the option. I say "pretty" because in another thread A4guy admitted to rooting through a McDonalds bag, to take inventory on the trash inside. But you! If only everybody took so much initiative to save the community! We could shame and shame until everybody was so embarrassed of themselves they would fall right into the mold of conformity (synonymous with perfection).
You wouldn't be caught DEAD in bare feet. No no no. You have an image to uphold, almighty upstanding citizen. Tell me how you felt when you stopped by that woman. If you had seen a glimmer of shame from that barefoot RENTER, the satisfaction would have oozed from you like fresh botox.

I find poop disgusting too, it just pales in comparison to some true identities that leak through these posts. Life's too short to get your panties in a bunch over dog poop. And hell, maybe this post was a waste of time too, but only if it falls on deaf ears. I implore people not to cork their dogs asses, but to listen to the little voice in the back of your head that's saying "I get real heated over dog poop and write about it on the internet." There's dog ****, and then there's things like "shaming renters". Way to keep the thread alive though, KTdid, the *****iness almost lost momentum.

You guys are making progress though, I'm pretty sure violators of the poop-rule visit this thread all the time.

I still look at this thread and have flashbacks to the movie "Me, Myself and Irene." specifically when Jim Carrey drops a loaf on his neighbors(whos dogs always pooped on Jim's yard) yard after going crazy.

Can you please post the link to when A4GUY said he rooted through a trash bag? I'm curious - he's my neighbor and according to you, looks like I should stay away from people who want to live in a clean environment.

Do you have pets? Do you have kids?

Well, I'm sick and tired of walking my dog every morning and stepping over pop that is on the SIDEWALK. It's disgusting, dirty, disease carrying and by the way,

Not picking up your pop is illegal in Loudoun county. Here is the link to the law, http://inetdocs.loudoun.gov/animals/docs/animallawsandco_/chapter612dogsa/office2k/office2k.htm

    Refer to section 612.19 (9).

First of all, in my other thread I did not say I 'rooted' through a McDonalds bag to see what was in it. No, instead the McDonalds bag and its contents were thrown across my cross-street and its contents were ALL OVER. I picked them up to clean up the area.

You think I'd complain in here just because? My wife and I purschased a home here 2 years ago and it makes us sick to think people care less about leaving trash in the streets and worse, leave dog poop all over. You literally cannot walk 100 feet down Village or its side roads and not see a dog mess in the grass. I challenge anyone to do it.

And.. dog poop is a carrier of disease for both dogs and humans alike. Ever hear of Giardia? Well guess what, Humans and Dogs can get it from feces lying around: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giardia_lamblia

I don't care if you rent or own a home.. respect the area you live in and those around you.

BTW.. though I'm still hunting down the Loudoun County laws... here is what Arlington County says about picking up dog mess:

    ----
The waste from the many dogs in Arlington cannot be adequately or naturally absorbed into the environment. Large, unnatural numbers of any animal can cause this problem. Bacteria in dog waste can cause serious illnesses in humans, including cholera and dysentery.
    ------

Okay, okay 40AndFurious...I didn't realize that that was you in your barefeet stepping on the poop. Maybe people can be shamed, afterall, into changing their behavior:whistle:

I purposely didn't get a dog because I don't like the idea of picking up dog poop or walking them rain or shine. So I got a cat instead. Now I have to clean out a litter box, which really isn't any different except for the rain part!

Still, if you aren't willing to pick up after your pet, don't get one. Of course, when I was a kid, being on the lookout for poop while you played was part of the deal of playing outside.

Brand new to the sand box and already not playing nice. :shakehead:

Second post and you are already attacking another user which is a no-no. :rulez:

You should at least wait until your 5th or 6th post, just to establish credibility you know!

I happened to be at the Udvar Hazy museum this weekend and was taking in the Vietnam war exhibit. In the exhibit was a piece of dog crap that the CIA had implanted a sensor. The sensor was used to monitor activity along the Ho Chi Min Trail. My guess all this local dog crap is being put out there by the new Broadland's police force. It is tracking the nefarious activity of the local youth. In fact, those search dogs they had around a couple months ago are highly trailed sensor depositors.

I am sure Cliff will deny this. It's plausible. Expensive but effective.

I want to thank HOA for including the article about picking up after your dog in September's newsletter.

    I'll e-mail HOA also.

    Thank you!

    Hi Everyone,
Came across dog poop that was on the sidewalk last night. I went out this morning to try and clean it up, but it's frozen to the ground.

I'm really angry and upset that community dog owners do not pick up their pet's messes. I spoke with another owner this morning and he's equally outraged.

I want to give kudos to our HOA for providing pick up bags and trash cans. I also want to give kudos for providing a reminder in the newsletter about picking up after your pet.

My question and plea to all of you is; please if you see someone not being responsible - please call them out and make them pick it up!

HOA - I think we need to come up with some creative education ideas to educate our community about this. I'm sick and tired of dodging "bullets" every time I walk my dog. The paths and common areas are for all of us, not just pets. I would like to see our resident HOA members get on this.

Maybe mailers go out to everyone separate from the newsletter. Maybe more signs, maybe dog bags that are attached to leashes can be given out for free one weekend. I don’t know, but I’m happy to have a discussion.

(These pictures are in SW right off Village and Fieldthorn at the circle. I think you can see the poop station in on picture - probably about 20 feet away from the mess.)

mailers would xpensive, and i think, so ineffective. inconsiderate, antisocial jerks aren't going to change b/c they get a flyer in the mail. what would change them is catching them, collecting 10 lbs of dog crap and piling it on their front step...

i think all that we can do is as you said- call them out and hopefully shame them into good bahavior.

Educate all you want. I'd be willing to bet that those that let their dogs crap everywhere will continue to do so, no matter how much you try and educate them. They just don't care.
THe HOA is not going to spend thousands of dollars on a mailer that many won't bother to read, nor change the activity of poop violaters. Nor would a sign, trash can, and mitt bag on every corner.
What do I think might work? If you see someone's dog do it, scoop it up while it's still fresh. Follow, discreetly, to find out where they live. Bring the poop and slam it down onto their front porch (so it makes a nice "splat"). Ring the bell and sweetly say, "Gee, you left something behind."
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
