Just wanted to pass along contact information for Ark Trapping. Burt came out to get [3-4 years worth of] birds and nesting in our vents. He did a great job and was super nice to my daughter; making sure the noises didn't scare her.

I called a couple other animal remover companies and many of them wouldn't come b/c we have a three story townhouse. So, if you've got birds [or other animals] in your vents or in your house definitely give Burt a call.

It would be nice to wait until the nestlings leave the nest. A co-worker said his neighbor capped his and left the nest and the babies inside:confused: He said the parents were going ballistic for two days trying to get to the babies.

That's the situation I have. A nest in a vent and a nest in my roof eave soffit vent.
I'm going to wait until the babies abandon the nest before removing the nests.

WHY would someone do that? It takes a person with absolutely NO feelings to kill innocent creatures, I don't care what they are! What a stupid person!!!

That being said...we did leave ours in there a couple of years ago. They ended up basically being "cooked" because it got so hot in the metal pipe. Gross. It was amazing the amount of stuff that was in there. I had them completely remove the pipe through the attic so that I could spray it out. The amount of bird droppings in there was UNBELIEVABLE and I am sure very unhealthy. Make sure you have them cap it with a vent because so those birds are incredibly persistent!

You mean you left the birds alone?

I've had birds nesting in my vent to my little powder room and they've never been "cooked". I guess it's a different pipe. I would certainly cap them if it would cause them harm.

Yes, we left them alone, and I was hoping they would leave the nest when ready, then we would clean it out and put a cover on it. After a few days of not hearing anything, my husband checked on them. My guess is that the heat in the pipe just got to be too much for them, as the temps outside went into the 90's. Not good...:( The vent extended from one of the 2nd floor bathrooms into the attic. I don't know if that made a difference.
